[Rant] Why I don't like apple

Kanna

Hey so I'm just going to drop here that I really dislike apple even tough I use an iPad daily. The reasoning behind this is the fact their devices in my opinion doesn't have much customization and that it's way overpriced for what it is you are just paying for the logo no fancy 120hz display here. My iPad from 2018 which is not full of apps is just running ass, whenever I open some app in the multitask thing either the app I open crashes or the whole iPad does and not to mention the fact loading apps takes long time but it's not all but I know discord and google chrome with a few tabs does, adding to this if you have youtube open, put iPad in sleep and start again youtube 90% of the times restarts meaning you have to find a video again (not big issue since history). As you notice I have a reason to not like apple but you may ask "why do you have a iPad then" I own one because I just need simple stuff on a tablet and android tablets are worse in this regard but you still expect this premium product to last a little longer for simple stuff as discord and chrome. There is more but this is my main issue with apple right now

Preach on brother! (...or sister!)

I have deep issues with how they conduct business on the 3rd party repair side so I boycott them wherever possible.

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

I have had this problem on another iPad of exact model when it was new, also haven't had nice experiences with some other devices of theirs but some does have a neat experience yes, I could totally buy AirPods at sale for my android phone

That is also something bad on their side how third party repair is dying over there

My 2018 base iPad still works as perfectly as the day I got it, even for multitasking and some heavier work, and even with about 60GB of storage used. And yes, my base 2018 iPad is on the latest version of iPadOS. This sounds like an issue with just your iPad that you might want to get sorted out

Desktop - i5-9600KF @4.8GHz all core, MSI Z390-A PRO, 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance 3000MHz, MSI GTX 1660S OC 6GB, WD Blue 500GB M.2 SSD, Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM HDD

the thing is this came in recent updates, could it be that my 128GB has 40GB left?

I haven't noticed an issue with the updates on mine. I want to say potentially yes, but also no, as 40GB should be more than enough, but if so that means it's also got about 80GB used then.

I have an iPad pro from 2015 with barely 10GB free and it works just fine.

You should maybe try a full wipe/restore.

To clarify, when I mean restore I mean a firmware restore from iTunes, and then NOT restore from a backup but set up as new.

There's a guy I know who keeps having issues with his iPhone, but every time he resets he restores the backup and all the crap that caused it to crash as well... 🤦‍♂️

As much as I prefer Android over Apple, I think their tablets are not all that bad. And AFAIK Google is just being an ass for making their apps inferior on Apple products which would explain the bad behavior. At least they dont outright make Google apps exclusive to Android.

If you really just need simple stuff as you said, and rely on Google apps, then I think an Android tablet would be better for you as long as you get a model that is not woefully outdated or underpowered.

The thing is I have apps purchased and stuff on my iPad that they automatically put on the cloud so I'm kinda stuck in the apple system but I might take this iPad to the shop and see what they say to see if it's an issue or it's just loaded with stuff

Purchased apps are locked to Google or Apple's app store. Suck cost fallacy should not get in the way of determining the best device that suits your needs.

If its your data that you are worried about, you can just download off the cloud for transfer to different platform?

I think I will stick to them since I kinda got into that system and my experience with Android tablets have been worse but that was a few years ago might give another shot because my mom's brand new tablet at that time with not too outdated stuff ran slow after 1 month

Yeah, that's the thing... however imperfect the iPad is (I've had great experiences myself), the Android tablet situation is... messy. There aren't many high-performance Android tablets, the app selection on the Play Store remains terrible, and Google still has no idea how to foster the ecosystem. Apple wins in part because it's the only one of the two that actually cares.

Some apps just crash or bloat, like discord, no matter if it is ios, macos, windows. Youtube and chrome apps on ios have also questionable performance in my experience (especially on older models).

My ipadPro 2017 has been heavily used and is bloated with apps and other content that I forget to delete.

Was never reset and still works just fine.

As it was mentioned before, reset as a new device, use safari.

safari maybe I will skip that and take worse performance instead

I’ve had one of Samsung’s flagships every year since the s2 including notes and galaxies and a a fold 2. Recently moved to an iPhone 12 Pro Max, and I have zero idea why people say Android is better it’s more customisable blah blah. Other than themes you can nearly do everything the same. I’m yet to be in a situation where I’m like “oh can you not do this on an iPhone”

a 120hz display isn’t a deal breaker for me.. nobody suffered with their phones pre 2019.
And yeah they cost more and the specs don’t seem amazing on paper. But you get hardware and software optimisation on an insane level. The 3700mah battery in mine far out performs any Samsung battery life despite being much larger. And I even trialed a mi 11 for a while with a 5000mah battery.

I was so impressed I have gone full apple. M1 MacBook Pro, watch and phone.

Gaming PC: • AMD Ryzen 7 3900x • 16gb Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3200mhz • Founders Edition 2080ti • 2x Crucial 1tb nvme ssd • NZXT H1• Logitech G915TKL • Logitech G Pro • Asus ROG XG32VQ • SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless

Laptop: MacBook Pro M1 512gb

For me customization is not just themes, it's settings you can change like resolution, launchers (not the same as themes) small but neat toggles and other stuff. I feel like an iPhone doesn't fit my needs because I like to do advanced stuff and that just is more fitting on android some of the stuff I mentioned might be implemented on iOS but I wouldn't know since I have iPadOS. I agree apple does software optimization much better because they have the ability to code the software around their own hardware but android phones can't really do that

As far as I know it is a marginal difference of a few minutes, unless you do some GPU intense gaming. But then again, apps like Fortnite give you options to select from like fps target and rendering resolution even on iOS.
