Cpu Die found on motherboard

I got a motherboard from a friend of mine and while looking at it I found a cpu die(I believe) on it Im not tech savy so I thought I would ask here image0.jpg?width=447&height=596image0.jpg?width=447&height=596

can you upload the images directly, not through anything? I cant open them.

Otherwise known as the PCH in modern Intel systems.

 

In most high-er end consumer boards, you don't see this as it's usually covered by some type of heat sink.

Yeah, that's just part of the chipset.  Perfectly normal.

 

Since it's a Dell, it doesn't have fancy accessories like consumer boards do.
