Nvidia Titan Z, nvidia logic 1+1=3

yugi8264

So how many of you were excited to hear about a new graphics card. Well we got one and it is the gtx titan z. It is the abomination of graphics cards. Why in the world did nvidia make such a move that is going to piss off 99% of the people out there. So this graphics card is basically 2 gtx titans about $1,000 basically in sli. So why did nvidia price it at $3000 and not at the maximum $2,000. Who is going to buy this, it runs hotter than 2 gtx titans because it only has one fan in the middle and if you are going to spend $3,000 you expect it to be at least be water cooled. Yes I understand they this is for workstations and is probably cheaper than a quadro card but they can always do sli gtx titan blacks instead and save than grand to maybe get 3 gtx titan blacks. Also, directx 12 is coming out so a new standard is coming soon, why release this now. This graphics card is more expensive than most gaming pc's even some with custom water loops so basically this card is the price of an over the top gaming system.

Now if this card was released a bit earlier it might appeal to cudaminers but the mining market is going to be dead soon because of those ridiculous tax laws. So this card isn't going to appeal to anyone.

To be the best of the best. I'm still needing a reason for anyone at the moment to need 12gb of memory in it. It's like putting a V24into a car, and when you put it into a workstation it's like putting a V24 in a truck. You just don't need that much power yet in most things, and only big company's can afford it. Correct me if I'm wrong though

Their logic is $1000+$1000=$3000 or 1 titan black+ 1 titan black = 3 titan black

why do you care?

are you upset that you cannot afford one?

its not YOUR problem who buys this card or who doesn't

nvidia can do whatever the fuck they want, and there will always be someone that CAN afford a $3000 card

just because you cant have the best card doesnt mean you should rant about its price

when you say this card wont appeal to anyone you are making a generalization

there ARE people who will buy it, even if it doesnt make perfect sense

it is the best graphics card in existence, and if they can afford it then good for them, they get bragging rights, you dont

stop bitching about it

The only people who will buy this are savvy researchers who can save a lot of money on these over Tesla cards and still get great compute performance or the obscenely rich enthusiast who just doesn't care.

As if 99.99999999999999% of the internet is ever going to buy a card like that.

It doesn't effect you whatsoever if you're not buying it, if you are buying it you already have the money to buy it so what difference does it make?

I am not saying people can't afford this I am saying it's not justifiable that it's 3,000. If it was like the asus ares 2. I have no problem with it being 3,000 because it was a limited edition card with water cooling capabilities and it was a limited edition card meaning it can be collectable. But this right here is just stupid and they are getting so much bad press because of it. Also, people could get 3 gtx titan blacks for the price of one of those and they would be getting bragging rights for that probably better than just the titan z because people will think that person is an idiot for getting that card.

because it costs alot more r&d to put 2 gpus on one pcb and u are also paying for the pcie space savings only having to use one slot for essentially 2 gpus some people like that or it is great for itx builds.

yeah but it is going to be running hot as hell with that card. Since it has only 1 fan in the middle. They should have made it water-cooled if they were going with that route.

IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PRICE, IF YOU AREN'T BUYING IT, THE PRICE SHOULD MEAN NOTHING.

IF YOU ARE BUYING IT, THAT MEANS YOU HAVE THE MONEY TO BUY IT SO IT DOESN'T MATTER EITHER.

Use you're freaking brain dude. I don't see you complaining about ferrari's costing 500,000$, because you're not going to buy one anytime soon.

This isn't a general consumer grade product. It's for the enthusiasts with really good jobs who want something overkill. There will be new, reasonably priced Nvidia cards in the coming months. It's only crazy to you because you are not in the demographic that they are marketing to.

well thats because those cars are branded and you are basically buying it because of the brand but this card is not special. I can see how a ferrari can cost so much but I can't see how this gpu cost so much.

Let me guess, are you the same kind of guy who bitches when someone spends...what was the price...500K on a Aventador? Or F12? Or anything expensive? Do you go off when that happens? Cause let me tell you, those cars aren't actually worth that. They're worth what the market will pay for them.

NVidia knows the market will PAY 3 grand for it.

Are you so thick that you don't realize what the target market for this card is? Enthusiasts who could probably buy YOU as a person, and people who want exceptional compute cards without having to pay the prices that those kinds of cards usually warrant.

How is this any different than what NVidia charges for Quadro or Tesla cards? Hilariously overpriced, but they already know the kind of people who actually put their money where their mouths are will buy them anyways. Because the economies of scale don't favour low yield, professional use GPUs anyways. So they'll charge more, and make more because of it.

My god. Are you so bothered that a 3 grand card exists? This clearly isn't for you, me or most people here. But for those that actually want it/need it/have use for it, it'll be a drop in the ocean.

This card is meant for smaller form factors as well. You can fit a Titan-Z in a Mini ITX rig with no issues. How many Titans go in a Mini ITX rig? 1. So 1+0=2
