INTEL Core i7-11700K vs Intel Core I9 10850K which one should I go for?

I see, but i can still use one of them I guess?

Perhaps shall I go with Ryzen 9 3900X instead I9 10850?

Oh right, but there are still 2 M.2 slots below connected to the SB. Prime Z490-A also has two M.2 slots (no extra slot for 11th gen) so Vision G is no worse here.

Speed wise the 10850k still wins because it has faster cores and only 2 less of them. If it's 5900x then Ryzen will win, but that's hard to buy. Advantage will be efficiency (amount of power to do the same work), so it depends on whether you need to save power.

Some locations are discounting the 5800x - you might want to consider that as well. It's faster or the same in most cases to the i7-11700k or the i9-10850k.

I am looking now into 5800x or 3900x.. Damn it is so hard to make a decision.

Why? Then 5900 x is the way to go. 😛 But it is damn expensive... Perhaps I could buy a cheaper motherboard and cheaper cooler for it.

Core for core, 3rd gen Ryzen is worse than 10th gen Intel. If I were buying Ryzen right now I'd only go for 4th gen (or 3rd gen w/Vega graphics if I had no GPU). I suppose if your workload is mostly core-dependent, there's a case for 3900x/3950x. But that's not me, I guess.

The gen numbers are kinda weird.

3rd Gen Ryzen parts start with 3 (or 4)

4th Gen Ryzen parts start with 5

There is a Ryzen 4000 series, but they're really just 3rd gen Ryzen and are for mobile/OEM only.

Intel naming is long but generally makes sense.

Starts with 10? 10th gen. Starts with 11? 11th.

Thank you. I thought that it will be an easy decision to make but I was wrong.

I have 4 CPU's in mind now.

1. Ryzen 9 5900 x (Which is over the budget but maybe I could get it somehow.

2. Ryzen 3900 x

3. Ryzen 7 5800 x

4. Intel I9 10850 (Which draws too much power so might not even consider it.)

5800X is tad better for those. Probably. Though 10850K has 2 extra cores.

If the budget allows 5900X is of course better.

KK. Thank you. Price wise it is the same now as the Intel 10850K. But what about cores, they do matter? For example 3900 X has 12 cores and 5800X 8 cores.

5900X is of course better for content creation, like Mister Woof linked.

Just a matter of budget.

5900x with a 6800XT at MSRP would be my all-stars in the perfect world.

But they don't exist in reality so

Question is, will I feel the difference? I am not buying a GPU for now. Using an old one.

Depends on in what task, and what your existing GPU/CPU is.
