Not going to interfere more, but there is an interesting comparison between Intel and AMD CPUs (unfortunately missing 10850k but it's very similar to 10900k)

The performance difference is mostly around 10% between 8-12 core, higher end CPUs.

I have the Asus z590-E and currently have the 10850K installed. I just purchased the 11700K and installing it tonight. 

The main reason for this is to release the 1st M2 lane and raise the  PCIe Gen4 ladder on both 1 and 2 NVMe lanes. why would I not use the full capabilities of this board?

Sure I may loose a little performance in the CPU but gain in other areas. Yeah this is likely the last CPU to go in this board considering there will be a change in socket. But I am building this PC right now not later. When the new biggest and badest comes out I will do it all over again.
