Are you sure?

980 pro 6900mb / 5000mb

970 evo 3400mb / 2300mb

FIrst of all, those are peak sequential speeds they won't affect things like boot time or game load time. Even a sata ssd will be about as fast.

Your board can also only run at gen 3 x4 speeds, or about 3400mB/s, so they will preform about the same here due to your board.

Hi guys, I'm gonna buy a new ssd 500gb, but I don't know if it's compatible. I'm also thinking of buying a Samsung 980 PRO

my cpu: amd ryzen 5 3600

yea a 980 pro will work, but Id save a bit and get a 970 evo or other gen 3 drive.

The 980 pro is currently on discount, with a $20 difference between the 970 evo. Can I reach speeds of 980 Pro with my motherboard?

Id get the evo, there won't be any performance difference.

B450 only supports PCIe 3.0, so the max drive speed is 3500Mbps. A 980 Pro will work, because PCIe is backwards compatible, but you'll max out at half it's rated speed.

Slightly incorrect. Yes, those are sequential and random 4K will be much slower, but there's still a benefit over SATA. The SATA random 4K will be even slower.

Yea random io will be a bit worse in sata ssds, but it will make a very small difference in load times, things like game load times and boot times will be within a second or two normally.

How much is the WD SN750 vs the Samsung 970 EVO / EVO Plus?

SN750 is either performs slight BETTER than the Samsung, or on-par with it.

Usually the WD drive is significantly cheaper too.
