How much ram does your pc use when its idle?

At boot: 5~6gb

 

Currently with some chrome tabs, chat apps and spotify it's at 22,7gb. (it usually hovers between 20~30gb when I'm not doing anything intensive).

On a cold boot

My laptop - 1.2gb out of 8gb

My desktop - 1.5gb out of 16gb

Currently I'm in an online lecture, so can't say how much RAM is used when nothing is open. But now with AIMP playing music, a couple of tabs open in Firefox and a couple in Chrome the RAM usage is sitting at 4.66GB out of 16GB total. When I finish the lecture, I'll edit this post to add RAM usage with no programs. What I'm sure that at desktop with no programs open the VRAM usage is 8MB out of 4GB, not that anyone has asked that...

 

EDIT: No programs open → 2.24GB out of 16GB RAM used

4.3GB if my browser is closed.

5+GB if my browser is open and depending on how many tabs are also open.

RAM usage numbers when idle doesn't say much.

 

The OS or an application can have adressed 90 % of total RAM but not be using it while the computer is in an idle state. That RAM will instantly be freed if another process needs it. So even if activity monitor says you are using 14 GB out of 16 GB total doesn't mean there are only 2 GB "unused" ram.

rn its @ 3.5gb, but it is mining. The miner is marked as taking 200mb, so it would be about 3.3gb.

Fresh boot: ~4 GB of 64GB of RAM, 8 if left to it's own devices for a while.

How I actually use it: 27 to 32 GB just doing my day to day tasks and entertainment.

When I start messing with Blender: The skies the limit! The most I have had so far was I was  50 GB in RAM~ 120 GB into virtual memory (AKA writing to a disk) Yeah.... it can get messy.

In search of the future, new tech, and exploring the universe! All under the cover of anonymity!

Almost 5/16gb at work at idle.  There's a lot of net services running though.
