Noctua cooler question(s)?

Bought this:

IMG_20210307_014845.thumb.jpg.41f7aed58b43a51f38fcda404fadffb7.jpg

Other details: Current build is in sig.聽I'm just wondering if this is good to cool my CPU (3600), and later something like a 10700k ?

And is one fan enough or should I have bought a second one? 馃

Also if someone knows how much thermal paste is included that would be awesome (basically enough for the swap I'll do later, so 3x cpu 'change'?)

1 fan is enough, but that cooler isn't really worth it for the price in my opinion, a hyper 212 BE will perform just a tad worse but save you like $30聽

Yes and yes.

An extra fan won't bring any magical cooling improvements - maybe a 2-3C drop at best. Basically, if the cooler wasn't good enough for your CPU with a single fan, then it most likely won't be good enough with two fans either.

AFAIK Noctua include a ~3g tube of NT-H1, which should be plenty for several CPU swaps.

Short answer is yes for both cpu.

Thermal compound is readily available. So if the tube that comes with the cooler is insufficient when changing the cpu, buy more compound.

Noctua has excellent compatibility resources. See the Service tab of the product page,聽https://noctua.at/en/nh-u12s. If you check the cpu compatibility section you can learn roughly how good a job the cooler will do with your cpu. (See the READ MORE link.)

Ah, alright that what I was hoping for, didn't want to buy another tube of mx4. : D

Ok, good, cause I cannot go 1mm bigger, max clearance 158mm.

(and I checked both motherboard and case are compatible according to noctua compatibility list)

Maybe, but its height is 158.8mm

It's not like I can just cut a hole in my glass panel... 馃槅

Also you know the saying,聽 once you go noctua you never go back!聽 馃檭

Yeah I just found that too, so looks like I chose the right cooler!

I see, but thinking about it, I think that second fan would be mostly for improving overall airflow in the case and help to push out the heat faster.聽

Since they provide the thingies to attach a second cooler I may just try with one i still have extra (lepa) but can I even plug in two fans into one cpu fan header? (with a splitter or something) otherwise this isn't even an option cause I'm pretty much running out of headers (although there might be one additional none pwm header on this board... 馃)

So yeah,聽 it's installed,聽 temps are 18C lower in Prime,聽 clearance isn't even 1cm... and the paste is small but looks like around 2g (it doesn't say)
