Applying liquid metal to GPU!

Ah, so it won't be too bad maintenance wise.

Still not a great idea. You're already running close to ambient.

To introduce LM for 1 or 2C is not a great idea.

I just applied LM on top of 10980XE and noticed 4C drop overall. Very pleased with it.

I want to do the same on the GPU.

I have Bykski 3090 FTW3 block and I'm wondering if it's all fine to use with this?

GPU temps under load without OC are 27-28C and with 500W BIOS cranked all the way up is 35C.

Would love to drop it a little lower. Opinions?

Some differences with gpu, like the fact that there might be more exposed traces and capacitors near the bare die, and that the heat sink might not be made for sometrhing that isn't thermal paste or pad.

I know some people who opted to use a better non-conductive thermal paste like thermal grizzly's Kryonaut. There might be better options available today or the manufacturere might use something of better quality that can only be done in manufacturing, so don't focus on a single option for what your possible solutions are.

I have Thermal Grizzly's conformal coating, and Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut. It's currently using Thermal Grizzly Kyronaut.

At those temps, it seems utterly pointless to introduce such a risk/point of failure.

I wouldn't even bother trying to put LM on if those are the temps you get under load.

Pardon my language but holy fucking shit why do you even need liquid metal that this point, your computer might as well cool passively esp with those temps

It does actually, just not when stuff is OCed, tried running 10980XE in CB15 without fans running topped at 48C.

I highly advise against doing it due to the amount of surface conductive components the gpu has. Sure the barrier will probably stop contact but it's also not flawless and not immune to time. That and the block is aluminum which liqdui metal WILL eat into and that can easily cause a leak thus killing the card and possibly other components. So basically do not do it.

Block is copper.

It's gonna make a mess of  copper.

You'd have to clean up and re-LM every 6-9 months.

It would be a lot better with a nickel block. Skip it with copper.

Ah, so it won't be too bad maintenance wise.

Still not a great idea. You're already running close to ambient.

To introduce LM for 1 or 2C is not a great idea.

Oh then the info on their site is wrong it told me it was full aluminium. Copper does make a mess too. Besides you are basically as cold as it can can already. Can you measure your liquid temp in the loop? Could be that you are basically near the lowest temp the liquid can be and LM would basically not have an impact.
