How common Power Supply Gonna DOA?

iCoNrant

Need to know how common it will happen.

If I don't have a pc to test the psu is doa or not? What should I do?

I'm not saying my psu is doa but need to know the percentage of it.

Could always jump the 24 pin connector and see if it powers on. If it does, the fan will start spinning once you switch it on.

Quite uncommon, but it happens. I can't put a percentage on it, but the vast majority of PC builders won't encounter it (of course provided you buy a good quality unit, fit for your build, from a reputable company).

Nothing?
If you don't have a PC to test the PSU with, you can't really test the PSU.

Of course you can do the 'paperclip method' of turning it on, but the average consumer can't exactly test the PSU without a PC.

I'm not sure if the fan will spin with berge connector plugged in on all PSUs.

I know when I got Corsair HXi and powered it on with berge connector fan just moved slightly which was indication that PSU is okay.

But I remember reading on amazon a lot that they got psu DOA,can't remember which exactly models...

Personally I don't think it's possible but who knows...

Please do not take offence for my apparent confusion or rudeness,it's not intent me to be like that,it's just my BPD,be nice to me,and I'll return twice better,be rude and usually I get easly pissed of...I'll try to help anyone here,as long as it's something I dealt with, and even if you think I'm rude or not polite, forgive me,  it's not me it's my BPD.

Thanks for understanding.

connect a few fans to the psu and use the paper clip method. Once, I had a psu powered on using just the paper clip but failed when installed with a motherboard. You should put a load on the psu when doing the paper clip method.
