16 vs 32gb Sweet Spot in the future.

AllFoe

I've been wondering if 16gb of ram will be enough or still be the "Sweet Spot" by 2027-2028 or will 32gb overtake it.

According to the past and my experience, yes

But the real question is, why care now about it?

Just planning on buying a laptop. The 16gb has 8gb soldered. 32gb has 16gb soldered. Just curious if it would last long enough until I plan on building a rig or replacing it with a new laptop.

Should be fine for 2027, but 2028... hard to say.

The real question however is whether 10GB of VRAM will be enough in 2077.

That laptop will be not good enough for a most games by then. Productivity will also be reduced to light tasks so basically don't spend more money on a feature that will most likely never be used by you before you replace the laptop/ it becomes to weak to use the resource.
