Is this AZZA 650W PSU okay to use?

Thanks for the advice!

Heres is my pcpartpicker : https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/Td6hxc

For the price, and rating. These are great value, and decent enough units:

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/Rxprxr/seasonic-s12iii-650-w-80-bronze-certified-atx-power-supply-ssr-650gb3

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/R2mxFT/corsair-power-supply-cp9020103na

Although the outright best option for the money would be:

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/2HbwrH/corsair-rmx-2018-650w-80-gold-certified-fully-modular-atx-power-supply-cp-9020178-na

However if $110 is a stretch the other 2 options will suffice. That said it could be seen as an investment if you have upgrade plans in the future. The RMx series is a high quality Tier A unit, with 10-year warranty.

I have a system budget build of 424W for around $600-$700 CAD.

I wanted to get this psu

https://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=33_1938&item_id=165544

Not only since it was 650W, but also because its on sale and the Canada Computers in-store Rep said it was a good product that he's used in builds.

But like what do ya'll say about it? Should I get it or is there any better alternatives around this price?

From some quick googling it seems that company has been around for a few years yet amassed hardly any reviews, has terrible customer service, and no publicly available warranty information. Also they're manufactured by "superflower" something I've never heard of and is definitely not SeaSonic.

Literally anything from EVGA, Corsair, NZXT, beQuiet, CoolerMaster, SeaSonic that's same capacity and price range. An extra $20 to guarantee an RMA process that you can actually use is well worth the money. Rule of thumb: never cheap out on power supply, big brands only

I highly recommend NOT getting this PSU. Cheap is cheap, and for a singular piece of hardware that is responsible for providing power to all other components, it is best to get a quality unit.

What are you system specs?

This is a good list to refer to:

I typically recommend no less than Tier B.

If it is made by super flower it's probably "fine"

But probably just get the S12III anyways I guess

I get the point you are trying to get across, although recommending a unit from "EVGA, Corsair, NZXT, beQuiet, CoolerMaster, SeaSonic" is not a guarantee for a quality unit, even these big brands have made some crap units.

EDIT: thought you were OP, we should get specs as a lower wattage PSU could work fine, and allows for a potentially better quality unit to be bought.

It’s a decent unit for the price, overwhelmingly average and honestly would fit a regular everyday build really well. I would suggest going with it as well.

If your system builder guy also says it’s good, consider his viewpoint is not having customers come back with failed units, and for the units to be economical. So from his view it’s a cheap and reliable option. And everything else I’m reading says the same things basically.

Some complain the fan is a bit noisy

Superflower has been around for ages and enthusiasts have known of them since the dawn of the leadexx units, to the extent that even 10 years ago people were importing them from China or through yahoo.jp auctions of people who sold them used there.

Youre trying to offer advice while having no idea whatsoever on what you’re talking about, it shows. You can try and say whatever you want but anyone who knows what they’re talking about looks down on you as basically spreading lies and misinformation.

Go learn about this whole power supply deal before you start trying to answer people’s questions on power supplies.

Definitely consult that tier list to make sure they don't happen to be bad units (I didn't check) but in my experience EVGA BR's have never failed me; ymmv

Also the efficiency rating is only relevant if you are concerned about your power costs, but a higher rating is a good preliminary indication of quality.

So I don't know what I'm talking about because I wasn't importing asian domestic market power supplies ten years ago? Right then...

All I said was I've never heard of seasonic and recommended a brand perhaps more people in this country have heard of

Super Flower is an OEM, and anyone that knows anything at all about PSUs, and is not just spewing random BS, should have heard about them, and know about their products. It's extremely obvious which group you are in.

Which you just demonstrate further with this reply...

With a 390X, you'll definitely want a somewhat decent PSU, and not a super low end, group regulated piece of garbage. Try to get the RM650x for $110 if possible. If not, the CX650M should be fine as well for $90, but it's nowhere near as quiet, and you are likely to get coil whine from it.

What about this psu i just found https://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=33_1938&item_id=163932

it is by Corsair, on sale and 80+ Bronze too, but it is 550W.

Sorry I'm only aware of things after they've been domestically available in my country. So I hadn't heard of them, does that warrant toxicity? I suggested different brands and gave my two cents, even said to consult the list.

At what point did I claim that what I was saying was absolute fact? Does it make you feel better trying to belittle people you disagree with?

We all agree you're generally better with a larger brand than a smaller vendor with questionable customer service and warranty. At no point did I try claiming superflower was inferior, all I said was I'd never heard of them and that this particular vendor didn't seem to be very reliable in North America.

Heres is my pcpartpicker : https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/Td6hxc

For the price, and rating. These are great value, and decent enough units:

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/Rxprxr/seasonic-s12iii-650-w-80-bronze-certified-atx-power-supply-ssr-650gb3

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/R2mxFT/corsair-power-supply-cp9020103na

Although the outright best option for the money would be:

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/2HbwrH/corsair-rmx-2018-650w-80-gold-certified-fully-modular-atx-power-supply-cp-9020178-na

However if $110 is a stretch the other 2 options will suffice. That said it could be seen as an investment if you have upgrade plans in the future. The RMx series is a high quality Tier A unit, with 10-year warranty.

Hey OP - not PSU related but you should swap the CPU out for a 10400f if you haven’t bought it yet. It’s cheaper and will perform better.

b550 > x570

I was actually debating that, is better then Ryzen at multi-threaded work loads?

It’s the same, but then I would go with the Ryzen 5 3600.
Edited list -

$10 less and will perform much better and will have a better case, psu, SSD, and ram. Also if your buying new GPUS don’t buy that 390x. It’s 6 years old

wow this is a great list, I haven't updated mine in a while. One reason I was going for the 2600 was that it was cheaper, but will soon drop from what I've read

That PSU is completely different from both the CXM and RMx. The CV is lower end, group regulated, and uses a sleeve bearing fan. Again, ideally get the RM650x for $110.

At no point did I try claiming superflower was inferior, all I said was I'd never heard of them and that this particular vendor didn't seem to be very reliable in North America.

My main issue was not you not knowing about Super Flower. My issue is you not knowing anything about PSUs, and spewing random BS to mislead others. If you don't know about PSUs, that's fine, just don't mislead others.

Super Flower entering the US market recently-ish does not matter. You recommended EVGA, whose mid-high end PSUs were pretty much all SF. B2, B3, G2, G3, P2 and T2, off the top of my head. You not having heard of one of the main OEMs for a brand that you recommended is a pretty indicator about how lacking your knowledge of PSUs are.

Let's break down what I replied to.

14 hours ago, Sp4gh3tti said:

Definitely consult that tier list to make sure they don't happen to be bad units (I didn't check)

Using the tier list as a reference, rather than actual reviews, and actually giving advice tells a lot.

14 hours ago, Sp4gh3tti said:

but in my experience EVGA BR's have never failed me; ymmv

EVGA's PSUs are made by several brands (RSY, SF, Andyson etc), so you having experience with one of them is not relevant at all. Not having a catastrophic failure is also different from not having failed. A PSU can still power on, while killing the system with excessive ripple.

14 hours ago, Sp4gh3tti said:

Also the efficiency rating is only relevant if you are concerned about your power costs

The difference in electricity cost will be negligible, to the point where you're better off ignoring the efficiency rating.

14 hours ago, Sp4gh3tti said:

but a higher rating is a good preliminary indication of quality.

It's really not. E.g. the EVGA B2 and B3 are pretty decent 80+ Bronze rated units, while the EVGA G1 NEX is an absolute piece of garbage. You can make an inefficient, well performing, quiet PSU, and you can make an efficient, loud piece of garbage.

I don't care that you're a new member, you could have had 20K posts. I don't care about that. What I care about, and what I'm calling out, is that you so clearly show that you don't know anything, and are misleading people. Not knowing anything about a topic is fine. Everyone starts off knowing nothing, and everyone can learn. If you learn about PSUs, and your posts don't reek of BS, you're welcome to actually contribute.
