3000 series life spawn

linusface

We don't know about future games and what hardware they will require. You look up past gpus to see how other generations have aged with new game. You can play current games at current settings as long as you want.

That depends entirely on the type of games you play, the resolution and frame rate you target, etc. So it's basically an unanswerable question.

That said, can you think of any GPU's from 7 years ago that are still relevant today? No?

If you are talking about playing the latest AAA games at good graphics settings and frame rates, then the answer is almost certainly not.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

The GTX 780 is still relevantish I'd say.

In 7 years will it still play current games or games released in the next few years? Sure.

Latest AAA games? Probably not

I was gonna say the 800 series!  Great minds think alike.

It must be true, I read it on the internet...

780 would still be "ok" today, that and you can cheat a bit by playing 720p on a 1080p monitor, or 1080p windowed on a 1440p

The 800 series didn't exist (apart from mobile chips which were mainly rebranded 700 series).

780 still sort of hangs in there depending on what you want to play. I kind of doubt any current card could hold on so long even that well because we're sort of on the cusp of features like ray tracing and DLSS/FidelityFX SR becoming mainstream, and I think in 3-4 years the gap between cards that can support those technologies and any card that can't could be pretty wide.

Best gpu available 7 years ago to this date was the GTX 780 Ti, which seems to around 80% of GTX 1650 performance these days. So you can still game on a 780 Ti but you're going to be making a lot of sacrifices to all of resolution, settings, and framerate. If you want something to last seven years get a console. 3080 is the kind of product for someone willing to spend for a high-end gaming system and if you're going to stay targeting high end gaming you're probably going to be upgrading the gpu every 3 years or so unless Nvidia or AMD ever makes as great a gpu for the price as the 1080 Ti again (that thing is still a monster four years later).

you can... but depends on your personal preferences, if you rather prefer playing on high settings high framerates, hell no, 4 years at the latest... if you don't care all that much about that you can probably 'game' on that for 10 years minimum (provided the card lasts that long of course)

#facepalm
The card I was referring to was in fact a 750, not an 800 series.  Still not a bad card, though.

yeah in 7 years it'll still perform like it does today, so games from the year 2021 or older will run SUPER great on it. 😉
