Can an old cooler be reused?

Albert F
Go to solution Solved by minibois,

LGA 775 and LGA 1150 (what the i5 4690 uses) are not the same socket in terms of cooler mounting, so a stock cooler of one won't work on a motherboard of the other.

I am planing on building a new PC with an i5 4590 and I am wandering if I can reuse an old Intel stock cooler coming from an old LGA775 build.

What do you think about it?

Generally speaking, you can reuse coolers, but in your particular case, you cannot.
