Why not? Im quite certain Ive seen that in the terms of many different electronics. Wont apple just refuse to work on it if you repair it yourself beforehand?

Except it's US law, which definitely does not apply and is not the same in every other country. This person from my understanding is in Germany.

Nope, the EU doesn't have it. The most that the EU has is the obligatory 2 year warranty period where a manufacturer has to repair or replace a faulty good free of charge for a minimum of the first two years. If they can’t offer that, they need to give you a full or partial refund.

All joking aside, this is usually how customers are treated when they buy a product from a company's "consumer" line of products. I have always had much better service when dealing with the business or professional division/line of products. I used to do support work for HP customers, and clearly recall that the difference in service process between a consumer-grade Pavilion and an enterprise-grade Elitebook or Proliant rackmount was night and day.

a decade ago, laptop bought in hk and cd rom broke in australia, same thing happend to me

no parts , have to send to somewhere far away
