Is it safe to put PS4 on top of metal filing cabinet?

Hello, I want to put my PS4 on a metal filing cabinet like this:

I am wondering if this is a safe thing to do, as the filing cabinet isn’t as sturdy / more prone to vibration than wood.

Thanks.

Sure why not. Of course if it's gonna collapse from the weight of a ps4 don't :p. Then again if that happens it's a pretty crap filing cabinet :p.

I was more concerned if the whole thing is going to vibrate too much and end up damaging the disk tray or something?

Nah it's fine the consoles are built to expect a lot of abuse and wrong placements. On top of a filing cabinet is about as good a place as any hard flat surface.

I think adding something like a piece of plywood will help. I think filing cabinets like that tend to bend a bit in the middle, making it slightly unstable for the PS4. Unless you plan to mount it flat side down, it's fine as it is.

Im with the mentaility of "IF IM NOT SURE IF ITS ENOUGH COOLING, GO OVERKILL"

The PlayStation is a self-contained unit. If the manufacturer doesn't explicitly specify that it must be placed on something sturdy to muffle it's own vibration then I'd imagine when it launched we'd have heard about mass console failure given how many people don't read directions.

It'll be fine. If it vibrates enough and the filing cabinet is empty you may have to listen to the annoying rattling of the cabinet but otherwise it won't prematurely kill the PS.

What do you mean "safe"?

Are you worried it will melt through the metal?

I'm not sure what it is that concerns you?
