TBH, I wouldn't be surprised. As times change and the comment section and twitter continuously thirst for blood, it only makes sense to delete old content that was fine at the time it was posted but might be deemed "problematic" now.

They are a video production company.

If they started deleting content, they'd basically be deleting the company.

It's not for nothing that they did the whole "petabyte" project.

I don't think so because Linus is a delicious member to r/DataHoarder with PB of videos

He might however do some cleaning from old drives that are in near end of life

They aren't deleting anything from YouTube. OP was asking about deleting archives on their internal servers.

If you're talking about his old footage, I believe they might keep some if not all of the original raw unedited footage for future projects. That way they can do like flashbacks without having to redownload the clip from YouTube (where the quality might be degraded a bit after YouTube processes it).

Iirc on one of the WAN shows they had the discussion about cancellations in other fields but Linus concluded they have a lot of long term content and most likely nothing to get cancelled from so they're keeping it. When it comes to local copies I think it's clear he has the mind of a data hoarder too.
