Upgrade 1060 3gb to 5500 XT. Worth it?

millo3746

Hello everyone! New to the forums. Sorry if it's on the wrong topic.
As the title says, i currently have a 1060 3gb, been using it from 2017, first build. It worked very well when i was at 768p gaming.

But since i upgraded to 1080p monitor, Every game i play is averaging 40~55 (high preset) in new games

I want to know how much extra fps will the 5500 XT bring me, and is it recommendable for 1080p high~ultra presets? I aim to be able to get 60+ fps on at least high preset.

And is it worth upgrading to this GPU from my current 1060 3gb? Or is it just better if i save for 5600 XT or wait for new cheap mid end Big Navi?

I have watched lots of benchmarks on youtube, but i do not know is it worth the upgrade or not... Because i am on a tight budget

Oh and extra info, i am not upgrading to a nvidia card. Not that i hate it, i just want to use amd freesync on my new monitor.

Let me know what do you guys think!

Local prices info, just in case

1650 Super= USD $201

1660=USD $258

1660 Super=USD $282

1070= USD $365

===

580= USD $251

5500 XT=USD $240
5600 XT=USD $368

5500XT, GTX1650, and GTX 1060 are pretty close in performance.

I'd hold out till you could afford either a 5700XT or a 3060Ti

True, but then is it really so much better there, currently?

tbf I did find more than I thought around 300-400 euros, but all without any buyer protection whatsoever (and they usually don't take PayPal which would still offer some protection) so I don't really consider those viable options.

You might see like a 5-10% performance lift with regards to gaming, but for the price to do so, it is not worth it.

In the US you can grab a basic GTX 1070 for $200 on ebay. I do not know about shipping and taxes for your country but, maybe you could find a seller that could ship worldwide if possible.

Op listed used cards. So me mentioning another one isnt an issue. Dont need buyer protection for a local purchase when you can see the item working as intended.

Yeah, i really hope mid range cards will come out around Q1 2021

There are frequent leaks of nvidia new gpus, which is good, but we rarely hear from amd, and i'm losing hope for them because i am targeting for an amd card.

It's just a matter of how i can manage my patience, i hope i can hold with whatever i have until they release their next gen mid end card.

I bet the 6600/6600XT will be of similar performance as a 5700XT. Probably a little bit quicker, maybe more memory?
