NZXT case burning up my pc and PSU fans too loud

This post will cover two problems in one that I've been having

The first will be about how my NZXT case (I believe) has been causing me problems. I have had nonstop crashes that have occurred as far back as December of 2019. I have since then done multiple things to get rid of these crashes and so far, have had a mostly stable pc since summer of this year. However, a new set of crashes have been occurring. I noticed after a while that my CPU fans would get real fast before each of crashes, so I decided to replace the thermal paste. While  I believe this may have solved the crashing, my pc still gets relatively high temperatures. Keep in mind that this is while idle, I had not played any game and my CPU still gets idle temps of 60 degrees and gpu idle at 60 (no fan). I think this might be an issue with my case, so I am asking is there anyway I could improve this?  Would there be a way to keep using an NZXT case without having my PC crash

As for my second issue, I really don't know whats causing it. My psu fans are really loud. Not that my psu is mounted incorrectly because the noise doesn't sound like its from the vibrations. The noise I hear the most is the sound of the air being scooped under from the psu as well as the fans spinning. Is there anyway to reduce this noise? By the way, the pc is setup up on my desk near me.

Specs if needed:

3700x with wraith cooler

x570 asus tuf wifi plus

5700xt red devil

Crucial ballistix 3600 c16

EVGA bq 750 bronze plus

NZXT H510 black

You need to monitor your temps. Use HWMonitor64 and see what your GPU and CPU reach while gaming. The H510 is not the greatest in terms of airflow, but I wouldn't think it would cause serious enough thermal issue to the point where your CPU/GPU hits it's thermal limit, although not impossible. How many case fans do you have? What is their orientation?

I think the more likely cause and part of your second issue is the PSU. The fan gets loud when the PSU is under load, that is normal, the EVGA BQ series is not particularly good, thus why a cheap fan bearing would be loud, there is nothing that can be done about this. Nevermind the fan bearing, the BQ is not made with the highest quality of components. I have a feeling your PSU is why your system crashes, if it cannot sustain voltage spikes while already under heavier load this could be the culprit.

When it crashes do you get a windows stop code blue screen, or does it hard crash? Are you able to immediately boot the system again, or do you need to wait several minutes?

For the orientation I have one intake on the top and the other fan is on exhaust on the back of the case. I always need to use the case fans because as soon as i use my pc without the stock fans the pc gets hotter faster and crashes within minutes,

I also though it was the PSU that caused my crashes but I had EVGA RMA me a new PSU  and the problem persisted. when the crashes occurs its basically a restart. All the monitors go black, all the debug light flash before restarting and then my system loads back into the windows login screen. I thought it might've been driver problems but I've already run a DDU, I have made sure to update every device, and this has been going on for months so i doubt a new update will change anything. Also I have two separate 8 pin power connectors going into the 5700xt.

Is there anyway the motherboard could be causing the system to overheat as well? because when I use programs such ryzen master to check temps its 5-10 degrees celsius different than on the BIOS. With the side panel removed I have been able to get good air flow but i can't using it like that.

Also for reference if needed, my house is always at 75 degrees but when I use my pc it boost my room temperature to 83 (I tested this before)

Your fan setup is an issue for sure, yes the front panel restricts airflow, however front mounted intake fans promote airflow through the case. Having top intake means the rear exhaust fan is pulling all the fresh air out immediately.

Initially I thought temps were not a problem, but given your fan setup. I am actually not surprised.

Move that top intake fan to the front of the case for intake. That said I actually recommend getting 1-3 more fans. And setup in the following configs:

2 front intake (120mm / 1400m), 1 rear exhaust

3 front intake (120mm), 1 rear & 1 top exhaust

These are better than the included stock fans and are good value (plus PWM).

Motherboard is likely fine, with regards to VRM performance it is pretty good.

For now try a better fan orientation + setup and monitor temps with HWMonitor64.

A little update to my situation. I was using my pc without any side panel to allow as much air flow as possible. My pc ended up crashing in a unique way this time time instead of the usual restart, my pc stayed on a black screen for a long time. Holding down the power button did nothing to turn the computer off. I noticed that when I turned the computer on, the monitors did not turn on. The debug light flashed on the CPU and stayed there. Currently I am removing the cmos battery to see if that somehow fixes anything.

I really want to know what causing this, literally givning my pc air flow and fans still keep spinning and pc keeps crashing.

Why did you ruin the stock setup by turning around the top fan? You have been basically hotboxing the gpu as the top fan pushes air in that instantly gets exhausted.

I removed the fans when I was replacing the cpu and I forgot how it was configured so i set it up the way I did thinking It was the right way. I have now realized I was wrong.

Wasn't able to  check, all i remember that lead up to incident was that I was playing a game. After I had finishing playing I proceeded to launch another game and the whole pc shut down. I'm gonna repeat these steps again with HWinfo open, however i'd like to ask if having my cpu spike up to 68.9 degrees as my max be a normal thing, or if I should be concerned.

That's another issue I would also like having solved, my fans keeping going up and down a lost. Sometimes they'll be going at a constant speed and then out of no where they'll spin really fast. This always happens while i'm on idle with no application open.

You need to monitor temps and move your top fan. If you are hitting the thermal limit (around 100 degrees C) constantly this repeated abuse is not good for the CPU.

This is the first step to properly diagnosing the issue.

Alright so the good news is, my cpu doesn't reach 100 C. I repeated all my steps like before the crash yesterday and then ran cinebench a couple of times. Not a single time have i gone above 80 degrees and I did not crash. I followed the 1 back exhaust and 1 front front intake, however I will upgrade the fans still since I think they aren't doing enough sometimes.

I think my only concern now is if my PC will crash again later since I have had periods were i go day long sessions without a crash and then the same crashes happen again. But for now I don't think my pc is getting as as before.

Monitor your GPU temps as well, as the CPU is not hitting its thermal shutdown limit. If the GPU is  staying below 100 as well then I would still lean towards your PSU being the issue. RMA or not it is not a particular good unit considering your hardware.

If issues persist it is worth looking into further. Refer to this list:

For a system like yours I really would recommend Tier A. Wattage is not the issue, even 650W would suffice but I have a feeling your PSU cannot handle voltage spikes under load. Also FYI, wattage and efficiency rating do not equal a good PSU. You can buy a shit 80+ Gold or Platinum PSU, instead you want one made with quality components, thus why this Tier List exists.

Regardless adding fans is a good idea.  Hopefully your issues do not continue!
