pc doesn't turn on after gpu clean

Today i cleaned my GPU using some kind of cleaning spray and i let it dry and put some thermal paste and tried to turn on the PC but it didn't turn on, but without 8 pin connector it does turn on but no output(CPU fan spins). this has no integrated graphics. so i thought something wrong with the spray. so i remove the pug and washed with water and let it dry tried to start the PC but the result was the same, I put some thermal paste on GPU memory also, could some help me, graphic card is a RX 570

to get this clear, you washed the gpu with water to clean of the spray?

What kind of cleaning spray exactly?

If it was not made for electronics it will, well, result in things not working as you can see.

 

And then washing it with water, if it was not distilled water and/or was not dried properly, i can almost guarantee it left behind hard water deposits', which are minerals, which are conductive.

 

Considering your situation, i would say you killed your card.

Did you allow 24-48 hours for it to dry? Or try it using a heating lamp? GPUs tons of small crevices under chips, resistors, and just all over in general. While cleaning your GPU is actually fine with water or alcohol, it MUST be given a SIGNIFICANT amount of time to air dry.

Considering your situation, i would say you killed your card.

It has mentioned it can be used for electronic  items, but after applying that feels sticky that why i washed it with water then after with the Distilled water and put fan on to dry

So, to summarize, OP did:

1. spray some unknown cleaning-product on their GPU
2. proceeded to power the GPU on without waiting long enough for it to dry
3. proceeded to make things even worse by washing it in water
4. proceeded to repeat step #2 again
5. proceed to be baffled why it's not working

Welp. Washing the thing with water in and of itself isn't that bad, but powering it on before it's fully, entirely dry literally everywhere is one of the worst things one can do.

Water doesn't hurt electronics.

The minerals in water do because they provide the electrical conductivity to short things out.

Its 100% possible to wash items with water, dry them properly, and have them work just fine.

Its even safer if distilled water is used.

I have personally put keyboards in the dishwasher (no heat drying option or you'll melt things) and let them dry for a few days, and then used them.

PC fans did not start to spin when try to turn on the PC. without GPU it does. let's hope there is no damage in GPU

Electronics cleaner can seem to leave a sticky residue if there was something on the electronics that the cleaner started to dissolve and remove, but not enough cleaner was used.

I suspect that you might live in a household that smokes or vapes?

Either of those often leave residue on the internals of a system.

When trying to clean them, it often results in a decent mess as the smoke/vape residue dissolves.

It takes a lot of effort to clean a card that has smoke, vape, or other such residue on it.

 

Whatever was on the card, it sounds like your cleaner did not remove it, but only soften it.

This could very well have resulted in a short, and smoke/vape residue is not going to clean easily from the addition of water.

 

At this point i would suggest you post the exact name of the electronics cleaner you used so we can determine if it might be safe to use it again to continue cleaning the card.

There is a slim chance that if you can get the card 100% clean, it may work again.

However, you could also kill the rest of the system putting it back in.

 

Again, post exactly what you used so we can properly analyze the situation and help.

Otherwise we can only speculate and its hard to give solid suggestions based on speculation.

now it sounds like you're just making things up as you go...  no offense but that's not necessary and helps no one, especially not your card...

So there was absolutely not enough time to let it dry... 

 

You do have a small chance to resolve this disaster, and that means you cannot put the card back into the pc for several days before its completely dried.... 

 

 

I would suggest to let it dry at a warm place with good air circulation for 4-5 days at least, put it in a way that the water can move out easily, so horizontally I guess... maybe change its position every other day too... 

 

basically you have to make sure it's absolutely dry - did you remove the thermal paste btw...? 

 

 

Well and after 4-5 days in a warm and dry place with good air circulation you may try to run the card in your pc again...  but, tbh, it's likely you killed it (90% chance imo) 

 

still, whatever you do, don't put the card into the pc for several days until you can be sure there's no moisture left in it, otherwise it can possibly as well kill other parts of your pc...

OOF. I can see now why you used water to get it off...  this is completely unsuitable for pc parts...

I would probably let it soak in distilled water for a bit so it can be cleaned off completely, also I think you need to at least remove the cooler and thermal paste from the card... then you could submerge everything in 90% isopropyl alcohol and *then* let it dry for several days as I suggested.

 

if that is actually worth it is another question, that's up to you to decide... still if you can't get another gpu it's the only option, I suppose!

That is meant to clean surfaces of a computer, not the parts inside your computer!!! 

 

By no means you should have used this spray on your graphics card or any electronic device.

In the future, use compressed air to clean inside your PC. That's all that should be needed under normal circumstances. 

 

Ignore the people being rude about using an incorrect cleaner and water.

We all learn hard lessons sometimes.

Well, not if you dont have to remove it.

Ideally you should not change things like that from what was originally there unless you know the repercussions of doing so.

It would have been better if you had asked before applying the thermal paste, because now it doesn't matter if it was a good idea or not, its done.

So, leave it be so you dont pull a chip off the board.

 

Have you gotten the card to work again yet?
