i7-10700K Worth More Than i9-10850K?

Looking into Intel 10th Gen CPUs and was going to go with the i9-10850K since it has far more cores and threads to the i7-10700K but it seems from the reviews they leave out the i9-10850K and major people are going with the i7-10700K. Is it worth paying extra $100 for extra cores and threads? I was looking at i9-10850K since It would help more when it comes to flight sims and heavy multitasking games, well mostly flight sims.

 

My ideal also that when the 11th gen comes at least I can update  and still able to sell the 10th gen. I Know people going to say get the i5-10600 or AMD 3930X or 3800. But staying with Intel and looking at i9-10850K or  i7-10700K. Pay less and get 2 less cores and 4 less threads! end of the day they both are 5.2ghz and i9-10850K sounds like it can do extra far work.

 

If you was to pick, which one you go with?

Depends on your need, if you need to crunch a bit more multi-core and your budget allows, get the i9, otherwise go for the i7 and a GOOD cooler

 

You do need to remember that in order to get good temp and overclocking headroom, you need a decent budget for a beefy cooler as these things are nuclear meltdown in CPU form

I would just go with the i9-10850K then but make sure you have a good cooling system to handle these beasts.

Is this for gaming? Then the 10850k is pretty worthless as games just don't use that many cores/threads and I don't see them doing so in the future as consoles will just be 8core/16thread boxes. The difference between a 10600k and 10900k in gaming for example is very very little and that mainly just has to do with the fact that the 10900k runs at a little higher clockspeed.

 

Also keep in mind amd is launching their ryzen 5000 in 3 days give or take and from the little we've seen they will be the best gaming chips on the market.

@CommanderAlex  @jaslion  @SeraphicWings Cooling is dealt with. I use the Corsair H115i PRO and that should do the trick  and case is very well'ed airflow. In many games you are right that extra cores doesn't make any difference but in terms of flight sims it does matter since they just eat up. 

 

Then again I see so many people that stream use i9-9900K also that's the same as i7-10700K in away. End of the day it will be replacing my old i7-3930K that I used for years. Even to i7-10700K that still gives me 2 more cores, 4 more threads and able to go to 5.2Ghz as the 3930K does 3.8Ghz to 4Ghz.

 

Really, comes down to the cost and what I can afford then doesn't it.

And you will have all the time in the world to fine tune it in the next couple of days I believe (Heard UK is going into a month long lockdown to reduce the spread of the coronavirus. Good luck and stay healthy!).
