How do these cards sell for so much?

I just dug up an NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900XT 128MB graphics card I've had for many years and never used (my father got it from a friend and then gave it to me). I was surprised to see that these things seem to go for around $70.00 USD or even higher. Wouldn't something so old be worthless by now? Some of them are selling for more than the GTX 970 in my computer that I actually use. Who would pay that much for one of these, and why? Just curious.

Are people actually buying them for such prices, or are they just listed at such prices? I mean, just because you see something listed at some price is no guarantee that anyone is buying it.

People are actively buying these cards between 40-80$ depending on what version it is. This is normal tho. It's the best gpu of that series thus is a collectors item/dream card for people from long ago. I mean I sold my radeon 9600 tx (yes tx it's a very weird card that uses a weird 9700/9800 gpu sorta) and that thing sold for 62€. I listed it for 10€ :p.

People that are collecting them for some reason. Depending on how many you saw sell at that price, it might have been an off chance thing.

Collection, they didn't make nearly as many GPUs then as they did now, and these were the highest-end cards of that generation.
