(I just signed up mods I didn't know where to post this)

So I was thinking of getting 128 GB of RAM so when I tried on pcpartpicker it said it was incompatible because of the number of RAM slots on my motherboard. Has anyone got any suggestions over what motherboard to get. It needs 8 RAM Slots.  Originally was going to get ASUS ROG Strix X570-E and now I need a motherboard for around £400 / $520.

You have to get 32GB dimms (4 x 32GB =128GB) because the ASUS ROG Strix X570-E only has 4 slots for RAM dimms. If you need 8 RAM slots, then you are looking at Intel HEDT or AMD Threadripper lineup for quad channel support.

for what you need 128gigs of ram? for gamign 16gigs is plenty. for workload 32gigs will be plenty. for modeling 64gigs is plenty.

I Use my knowledge as business owner and self taught technician aswell as an AI to help people. AI might be controversial but it actually works pretty well 90% of the time.

Not really, you might need more than 16 soon, some games saturate all of it.

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

is warzone one? i remember that it uses like 14gigs of ram? still 128gigs is overkill at pretty much anything. not to mention with AM4.

MS Flight sim can get pretty good past 16gb, warzone eats some (no compressed textures from what I understand)

You'd need to go for four 32GB DIMMs to get 128GB of memory on current-gen consumer grade platforms, which only allow for dual-channel memory (as opposed to quad-channel on HEDT platforms like X299 and TRX40).

What's the use case for this system that you feel the need to go for 128GB of memory?

Modern Warfare runs just fine on 16GB of memory.

MSFS2020 is the only game I can think of that legitimately benefits from more than 16GB of RAM (I'm not including heavily modded Skyrim or whatever other games that've got demanding mods available for them).

No problem, just weird that you posted in the storage section instead of the CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory section ! :P

128GB of RAM for video games is a tremendous waste of money that can be used elsewhere such as the graphics card/power supply.

Save some money then.

32 is enough, 64 is already overkill, 128 makes no sense.

By all means I can't stop you from buying 128GB of RAM but if you really want to see how many times you can keep spamming Ctrl + T in Google Chrome before the system slows down...go ahead. Any decent motherboard you can pick from for AMD Ryzen can be found from the tier list here. MSI Tomahawks are pretty good as well. I look at the reviews of motherboards and features in pc part picker to see whether a board is good or not, and also their brand reputation with quality, customer service, and warranty length.

thanks, this helped alot. the only problem is I'm going to have to get it in white/black or full black because of corsair not making a 1 X 32 / 2 X 32 / 4 X 32. Thanks anyway

The only reason I was after 128 GB of RAM is I was only experimenting / asking. Haven't done it yet.
