How much should i worry about the RTX 3000 power spikes?

you're spending less money and you're making less money, it'll be pretty proportional and you're not really "losing" here.

also a lot of people are gonna pass with an inadequate PSU in the rig so that should be priority one. If you want it to be more "gamery" you can toss an i7 in there, still more appropriate even if 8 cores 16 threads is overkill.

thanks for the info.

also what LGA 1200 can support 4 ram sticks? because apparently the i5-10600 can only support 2 (unless i'm misunderstanding something here)

it supports dual channel with 2 dimms per channel, so 4 dimms total.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

You most probably "lose" less with the i5. How much? I don't know.

i don't want to go into the debate, but here Intel is cheaper + i need good single thread ratings + easier to resell intel Cpus

the 10900 won't bottleneck the rtx 3070 for sure.

Fair enough if Intel is cheaper there. Why not 10700? The 10900 is one of the most horrible cpu's in terms of price/performance ratio.

That motherboard might not be able to handle 10600K at stock. I wouldn't pair that mobo with anything above a 10400.

it's about the same ratio, but the 10900 has a better resale value, and if i have a better cpu for 6 months that's also nice

well i'm not going to turbo, so should i get another 10th gen intel cpu?

maybe you can help me on that.

currently i have the i3-10100, and i'd like a cpu that won't bottleneck the Gpu (probably the rtx 3070) in the following games:

Hitman 3

Star Citizen

Turbo is enabled by default.

Multi-Core Enhancement (MCE) is also enabled by default on motherboards.

If you disable turbo, the i9-10900 only runs at 2.8 GHz

The i9-10900 is 2.8 GHz Base, and UP TO 5.20 GHz Turbo.

For that reason, I will not recommend disabling Turbo Boost.

Rather, disable MCE, and get a better rated 550W ~ 650W PSU.

Whether or not 10th Gen will have a higher resale value, will have to see when all the Ryzen 3000-series floods the market, or when people move from socket AM4 to AM5, and let go of their Ryzen 5000-series too.

What Intel has right now is CLOCK SPEED.

Ryzen 3000-series already surpassed Intel in per-core IPC performance (Ryzen 2000-series matched?) .

If you were to clock a 6-core / 12-thread Intel @ 5.0 GHz, with an AMD 6-core / 12-thread @ 5.0 GHz, the AMD will outperform the Intel.

Right now, Ryzen is limited to ~4.2 GHz, while Intel can pull 5.2 GHz ~ 5.4 GHz.

But if you are just running your i9-10900 at 2.9 GHz, then a AMD 10-core / 20-thread running at ALSO 2.9 GHz will walk over it.

Or you know...LET the AMD CPU turbo up to 4.2 ~ 4.4 GHz.

VRMs. It's a very rudimentary motherboard. You could try with a 10600, if it works fine, then great, you don't need a new motherboard.

That is true for current gen AMD but not next month...

Really the PSU should be fine the 261W was total system under an unrealistic load.  Even at that your under 500W with an RTX 3070.  I mean with my 3900x and EVGA 3080 FTW3 at 360W setting (95%) it barely goes to about 540W on a typical high threaded game.  I've got a D5 pump and custom water cooling in there as well.

True AMD reduces price on the last gen quite a lot more than Intel and people upgrade more frequently so that also drives prices down will all the used products going on sale.

i agree with most of what @Fasauceome is saying, and i'd pick the 10700 over the 10900 any day given the current prices. For the psu you are cutting it close, you should undervolt the gpu for efficiency and everything should be fine, no guarantees tho.
