PSU I got after RMA only has two pins for the wall outlet

AncientPistol

I bought a Corsair TX-650M PSU some time ago, and for the wall connector it had a 3 pin UK type connector, but its capacitors popped after some time so I had to RMA it. The replacement arrived today and I noticed it only has 2 pins for the wall connector and no ground pin. Also, this new connector doesnt fit quite as securely into the plug point as the previous one and a light pull can make it fall out of the socket.

Should I be concerned about this or is it fine? The PC is connected through a UPS and not directly to the wall.

I assume it has a removable cable, in which case someone goofed when doing the RMA and sent you the wrong one. Contact them and get the correct cable.

Who did you go through the return process with? The store you bought it from (if so, which store?) or direct to Corsair?

It should come with a grounded cable so someone screwed up somewhere. Contact whoever you did the return with and explain that your replacement came with the wrong cable.

Don't you have a spare kettle lead and just use that?

I thought that it's common sense to buy a proper cable if it's not the correct one, not just jam it in and think it's fine. You have the EU power cord and you need the UK one.

What you posted is what I got with the original PSU. I talked to the RMA support and they said I can visit their store and they'll replace the cord with the correct one

Yeah, go buy the right lead, duh.

I can buy them from electronics retailers or electrical wholesalers for cheaper than my time would be worth chasing a warranty one. Plus I just have a heap of spare ones anyway.

Also the EU plug does have an earth but it's female, the pin for those is on the outlet.

Never would have even considered trying to jam other countries plugs into our outlets. Do not do this in future.

I didnt plug it in to the PSU, just tried to plug it in the wall when the switch was off.

That's not a UK (Type G) plug. That looks like a European or Type F plug.

That would explain why it didn't fit in the socket.

Even off it's a dumb idea, could end up damaging the outlet contacts.

That's an EU plug.  Not a UK plug.
