GTX760 to....Upgrade for Casual

kewtz

My wife’s PC is the same build as mine.

Currently equipped with GTX760 but I’d like her to be able to play with decent (med-high) settings on WoW when Shadowlands is out.

FX-6300 CPU, gigabyte 970a-ud3p motherboard.

I was thinking a 1080 but wanted other suggestions.

probably something like an RX 570 if you're pairing it with this CPU and only playing at 1080p. Used prices are excellent.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Putting a 1080 on an FX-6300 is like strapping a 5.0L V8 to a Ford Fiesta. Can the engine produce all the power you'd ever need? Sure. Will the transmission, steering and drivetrain ever have any idea what to do with all that power? No. Very no.

A better fit for an FX-6300, assuming a platform upgrade isn't in your near future, would probably be something like an RX 480 or RX 580. Both available for around $100 used for the 4GB variant, around $120 for the 8GB variant. You can get it for less if you buy locally or carefully pick your listings and use the "Best Offer" feature to spam out lowballs on eBay.

Probably busy arguing with someone who recommended the Sugo 14.

Sweet, thanks. I don’t plan on upgrading hers anytime soon, she 95% of the time uses the PC for banking stuffs.
$100 used RX580 sounds like just the thing.

IDK if your CPU will hold in newer games but if it does then the 1650/TI, 1050/TI, 1060, RX560/570/580, or IDK when its going to come out but its prob the best value, the RX 5300, but i think that a CPU upgrade would help. If you dint want to deal with the hustle then a pre built could work
