Meanwhile in the US, businesses feel that going back to dial-up will be more profitable. 56k will be charged at $29.99/month with high-end users having access to "quieter" dial-up sounds at $39.99/month and a complimentary pair of Whee Riep Yuoff's earmuffs. In other news, a law has been passed that places priority of electric wheel-chairs over bicycles. A law that bicyclists will need licenses has also been pitched.

Seriously, man, if we can't get fast internet speeds because the US is so damn big, then at least make the metric system standard and aluminium standard in science. Geezus, aside from the US, only Myanmar/Burma, and Liberia don't use the metric system. It'd save more time being able to use a standard system instead of having to convert crap like slugs to kg... I mean who the hell uses slugs for measurements anymore? Besides Dave who measures how far a slug round will go through Jack's head, almost nobody has heard of a slug.

Maybe David Cameron isn't as tech illiterate as I thought he was... I mean he at least he understands the importance of high speed internet access.

I think you had better do the math again, 120mbps equates to about 12MB/s or about 72Meg a minute.  And that is well within the realms of reality.  I even get 2MB/s on shitty Aussie DSL.

The filters are only on new connectiosn, and can easily be disabled by signing into your ISP account, or router and disabling it.

Is the filter compulsory for under 18? if so that would mean that about half the Iphone users would be restricted by it and bandwidth could be saved there.

UK Internet speeds are very poor.

If you don't live near cable area or city you don't get decent speeds and if you do, this doesn't guarantee you good line quality, jitter and package loss.

BT Owns the market in the UK and there is no one to compete with them. And they plain and simple just don't give a **** about their customers.

I pay for a Business line, fastest and greatest I can get for my area which is 8mb line and I am assured I will get priority over residential traffic.

In reality:

1. All the telephone lines in my street are BT

2. I connect at 4.3mbs

3. I download at best 700kbs

4. I upload at best 60kbs

5. My neighbor is with Orange for his internet which is connected to the bt line outside the house and the bt exchange down the road but connects faster and has better upload and download speeds (I checked on various different dates)

6. I bought a more expensive router, nothing changed

7. I called BT asked them when an their fibre service is coming, they said to upgrades planned for the foreseeable future

8. I called BT asked to speak with a manager gave him a list of how many people live in the areas where I am and how much money they could make with faster internet deals. All I got in response was a whatever attitude and try again in 6 months time

9. If EE was available I'm pretty sure it would be faster than what me and a lot of other people in the UK are getting.

10. I need the telephone number for the head of Googles ISP 1GBs network division and need to beg him to buy out BT and bring the UK internet speeds out of the dark ages.

Hopefully this forces America to wake the fuck up.

Right now CEO's from Comcast and Verizon are thinking, "we could charge $5,000 a month for those speeds! But no one can afford it so never mind. Stick with what we have and keep giving it to the consumer."

Virgin Media competes with them.

BT OpenReach own the infrustructure, and are required to provide a good infrustructure for other ISPs to build upon. It is not a bad monopoly as you seem to think it is.

7/8  It doesnt make sense for them to put fibre optic cables to the DSLAMs in rural areas. They have to make money. Write to your MP and tell them how having a slow connection is effecting you. Maybe your area can get some of the £2Billion that has been invested in rural broadband so far.

120Mbps = 14.4MB/s

On mobile devices the filter is enabled by default. You just need to phone your phone company, or log into the bill paying portal and disable it.

I dont know why you think it is for the purpose of saving traffic. It does not suddenly allow for really high download speeds, just because 0.0001% of people have decided to keep the filter turned on.

This news article is about them upgrading the radio infrustructure to 5G, and being able to deliver very fast speeds over a 5G network.

I was referring to saving traffic because when net speed is increased the amount of data the infrastructure deals with also increases.  I think the other guy was saying similar,  that with the filter there would be a reduction in usage (because certain prolific content that uses more data would be blocked) hence my question about whether it can be turned of if you are under 18.

The target demographic for iphone is 14 to 17 years and according to apple data just over (or just under I cant remember which) half of all users are in the key target demographic, thus a good portion of iphone users (assuming they upgrade to 5g when it becomes available) will be data hamstrung,  so while there is super fast 5g the rest of the countries network infrastructure won't require upgrades because most of that speed will be used on facebook, pinterest and ebay.

I have sat in lectures delivered by EE.

They showed pie charts of their traffic break down.

I will try and find it and post it here. You are trying to imply that the majority of people watch porn on their mobile devices. People use mobile devices differently than they do their computers and laptops.

Guys I have to ask anyone know anything about what it takes to become a politician? cos to me it looks like you have to be completely incompetent not know anything about anything and talk a lot about change. I can do all of those four things!

(yes I know I only named 3 things)

It's actually quite hard to become a politician in Australia, basically it requires dedication and either good education and natural skills or backing of a major party.  Narcissists seem to make it in there so take that for whatever it insinuates.

Yeah, my populated town (was on the border of being classified as a city) still only has limited coverage of fibre optics, the past month or two, they have been installing it for the rest of us, the website says it should be available this month. The last cabinet (or two, idk how many there are) is being upgraded.

I somehow doubt this is going to be true. Maybe for 2 or 3 of the main cities, but for the majority of us, it's probably BS.
