BSOD: Kernel Security Failure

Rixon

Any idea why does certain software prevent my PC from booting?

First software that caused it was software from Meta, it was a driver for a VR headset and the second software that causes it is just installing Tor.

The BSOD code is something like Kernel Security Failure.

I tried reinstalling windows, reseating hardware and CMOS battery, but the only thing that works is restoring windows to the point where the software was not installed.

I tried memory diagnostics and sfc /scannow.

The only component that is NOT new, is my GPU. But the BSOD happens even if I remove it. I have a a Ryzen 7800X3D so it should at least run on internal graphics if the GPU was the problem.

mobo: MSI B650 Tomahawk wifi

i also tried disabling AMD EXPO.

any ideas would be appreciated.

It just booted normally on the fifth or sixth try.

I restarted again and surprise surprise, BSOD.

Does this make any sense to anyone?

I’m an IT student so I kind of understand basic troubleshooting. But this is out of my league.

My initial suspect would be faulty memory. Boot into and run MemTest86 if you haven't already.

Someone said the SSD could be faulty because one this was in my Event Viewer: Dump file creation failed due to error during dump creation.

I reseated SSD (M.2 NVMe 1TB) and PC booted fast and without problems. weird

Do you have any programs in task manager that are set to startup when you turn your PC on?

Have you tried turning it off and on again? Maybe Restart it?

I wiped the SSD using diskpart and resintalled windows, after installing drivers and steam, i rebooted PC and the windows buttons didn't work, not even the shutdown button. had to hard restart. now works fine but im pretty sure its gonna happen again.
