HELP: Should I get Cyberpunk 2077 for PS5, or my older PC?

pinapplewarehouse

Ultimately, if it were me, I'd try and get some clarity around just how well it really will run on my system, and try to determine if it will run better on the ps5 - plus, how much will it cost on each platform, will there be any exclusivity regarding DLC on a particular platform, and which, if any, is likely to be better optimised.

Me, personally, I'm not sure how well my computer will even run it (i5-10400f, rtx 2060, 16gb RAM), so I need to do all of the above to see how it will compete against a ps5 in those key areas and then try to make an informed decision.

RAM aside, his PC is way above the recommended Specs.

The recommended specs for what? 1080p 30fps Low? Don't kid yourself.

There were a lot of people surprised at the relatively low end components needed to run the game.

They've obviously worked hard to make it accessible, though whether that is really how a game like Cyberpunk should be experienced is up for debate.

Who reckons that 70 gb will bloat to over 100 by the end of week 1?

Get it on whatever platform you think you will enjoy it the most. Don't listen to insecure wankers that force this "hurr durr pc best expierience" agenda down your throat. At the end of the day you playing the god damn game and that's what matter most. Also, if you get it on the console you'll get the nice disc, so there's that.

I would not be surprised lol.

Also they said (verbally) during the reveal that SSD is preferred.

Pretty much standard procedure these days, isn't it?

I'd go PS5, it will outclass your PC, and its going to be more of a cinematic narrative experience than a twitch shooter, so Gamepad control won't be that bad.

I am not the one you asked but based on digital foundary's xboxSX video and my assumption that the consoles will perform on par graphics wise, i am willing to bet around 40 cents on that.

7700k 1070 and 8gb of RAM. Yes absolutely.

1070 is slower than 5700XT, and the PS5's GPU specs alone show a clear improvement over the 5700XT. It also has 16gb of much faster memory. And while the Zen 2 cores are not likely that much faster than his old 7700k, there is twice as many of them. And then you bring in the specialized NVME storage.

Yeah its not even close in my book.

It's quite nice to see a console actually come out packing some quality tech.

Often, it felt like consoles were out of date the day they were released.

Yes, of course you expect it to be outpaced by pc eventually, but not for a few years...and that wasn't the case last gen, was it?

I have an i5-10400f, rtx 2060, and 16gb RAM, so i don't know how that will stack up against the ps5 or a series X or S.

What would you say?

No matter what Specs. A console will always be behind the PC Experience. For several Reasons.

That's certainly a good point.

I was just asking from a technical perspective because of the exchange I was having with Chett_Manly.

One of them is mods, another is the insane forward and backwards compatibility of PCs (I can play the original Persona game from 1996 natively).

One of the real bonuses I've found since switching to pc recently is getting to play older games from the ps3/360 era that i missed, with huge improvements in frame rate, and then being able to play the new games as well without having to switch machines or suffer a downgrade in quality to do so.
