HELP: Should I get Cyberpunk 2077 for PS5, or my older PC?

pinapplewarehouse

Many people can't handle the upfront cost of a generation lasting pc for multiple reasons. Droping 500$ and having a piece of mind for 5-6 years i a luxury for many.

Especially for people occupied by jobs, family and other things. Many people that i know have enough time to finish a game or maybe 2 a month.

I don't see any reason to drop 1000-1500+$ for a rig that will collect dust or just not being used to it's full potential. PC tech is evolving and getting old fast nowadays and nobody want's to stay behind. I mean i could write more but got tired lol.

3 years is a lifetime for PCs lol

That card came out 4 years ago, not 3.

And to answer OP, most people here are fanboys who of course favour PC at all times. This is your choice. Are you planning on upgrading your PC in the future? If your PC is going to stay like this and you have no interest then go with PS5. The game will look better on PS5 than on your PC. If you prefer playing with a controller go with PS5. They might allow mods later but then again most people aren't interested in playing around with mods, I never got any mods for Dragon Age even though it has the largest mod community. This is up to you dude. You can also resell the game on PS5 if you just wanna play it and move on with your life instead of replaying it 500 times. Some people are planning on actually living inside Cyberpunk 2077.

It's quite nice to see a console actually come out packing some quality tech.

Often, it felt like consoles were out of date the day they were released.

Yes, of course you expect it to be outpaced by pc eventually, but not for a few years...and that wasn't the case last gen, was it?

I have an i5-10400f, rtx 2060, and 16gb RAM, so i don't know how that will stack up against the ps5 or a series X or S.

What would you say?

Well your GPU is definitely considerably worse than what the PS5 will have. Your CPU is probably roughly equivalent, better single thread but less cores. I'd expect PS5 to run games at higher detail level and framerates.

Though with your modern CPU, the $500 PS5 cost could be used to replace that GPU with a 3070, which would spank the PS5.

A PC is more than just a GPU... The CPU is from 2017.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3700x / GPU: Asus Radeon RX 6750XT OC 12GB / RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB DDR4-3200
MOBO: MSI B450m Gaming Plus / NVME: Corsair MP510 240GB / Case: TT Core v21 / PSU: Seasonic 750W / OS: Win 10 Pro

That's kind of my thinking regarding the ps5 vs upgrade question.

Do you think i can do a 3070 justice then, with that cpu and 16 gb of RAM?

Do you know what PSU I might need, as i currently only have 600?

If i spent the 500+ on a new GPU I'd hopedfully end up with something superior like you said..though I'll obviously miss out on some of my favourite Sony exclusives.

Still, I'm all in now with pc gaming, so i think I'm going to update my components rather than buy a console...at least for now.

Anyway, thanks for the advice, Chett.

Yeah your CPU and RAM shouldn't be an issue. I doubt the PSU would be either, I think the recommended was 550.
