I miss having different PCB colors

Seems like these days all mainboards and video cards have a black pcb. Is there a reason for this? Anybody else missing all the different colors pcb's used to have? Even if black is the more desired aesthetic it would still be cool if manufacturers did limited runs of different colors for people who want to build a system with a unique color palette.

I kinda like the green ones, it just fits in with what you expect one to look like. Just reminds me of the first time I cracked open a crappy home computer a long time ago.

I too am old enough to miss purple video cards orange motherboards. 

 

The problem today is most people have become armchair aesthetic "experts" and determine that subtle styling makes for the best resale value like a year one student in a 1994 copy of architectural digest.

 

Basically , the general population cant think even as far as a device being a "fun" object that should be represented with "fun" colors. Jetski manufacturers knew this long ago but it just flies over the head of most pc enthusiasts.

 

Tbh I genuinely hate when people have such boring black and white tastes and when rgb lights are a substitute for their ADD idea of "mixing it up". Its just sad and shows what kind of colorless overly conservative kind of world were in today

Likely wouldn't be worth the manufacturing run. You wouldn't find enough buyers for your off colors.

MSI used to use red pcbs on all of its motherboards.  They looked amazing.

It would be cool if they had a couple of different PCB colour options though.  I wanted to do an all white build recently, but about all I could get was a white case and CPU cooler.
