Starter Youtube / Photography Camera

FeaR418

Hi!

Sorry if there has been a post already about this, but i am looking for recommendations for starter youtuber cameras (I would like to start filming personal finance videos). In addition, if possible I would also like something that I could use for Nature pics or general photography (if thats an option for both, im not 100% educated on camera body vs lens).

Are there reasonable 4k camera options, or is it better to start w 1080p to begin with?

Thanks!

Sony ZV-1, it's a cheaper model of RX100 series which is getting more expensive.

Or if you want changeable lenses, try Panasonic G85.

There’s a whole series of videos on how to start pro quality video production with nothing but an iPhone.  Sound is apparently more complicated than video.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

Get a zv-1 + rode mic + hand held tripod and you're good to go.

The nice thing about these pocket camera is it doesn't need extra lenses, all can be covered in one lens, from macro to tele.

Why would you want to record at 4K? the only reason to do it is for editing purposes as 99% of people don't watch YouTube on a 4K display.

Would just use an iPhone for video and get a solid DSLR/ Mirrorless for photos

why a rode mic? BOYA BY-MM1 orMovo Photo VXR10, the real key is getting it close unless you can jump upto the cost of a videomic NTG or D3 pro

Why not? If you have the processing power. People on 1080p can just select 1080p. Plus rendering down 4k to 1080p makes a sharper video vs a native 1080p shot. You'll have more creative option like zooming, panning & cropping 2x without loosing pixels on 1080p.

It's arguably a popular option. Yeah BOYA it's pretty good for less money.

Based on the videos they want to do it doesn’t sound like it’ll be more than a fixed camera all the way through and YT compression kills any benefit you’d get. Overall 4K just wastes disk space and increases upload times.

Sounds good, 4k was just a suggestion (depending on price point :)

I was looking for a reasonable lavalier mic, but thats a different discussion. I have a good PC that would be able to edit in 4k and was thinking the same thing relating to the creative options. Might be out of my price range right now tho
