Update: it seems the press release is about an apple event next week. Rumors include new iPad, Apple watch and possibly iPhone 12 as well, check spoiler for previous rumor:

Spoiler

It is believed that today Apple may have a press release regarding new hardware. No details about other rumored products such as the iphone 12 or ARM macbook however.

Quote

Prosser has previously said that new ‌Apple Watch‌ and ‌iPad‌ models would arrive via press release in the week of September 7. This alleged Tuesday press release would seem to be for those products. Although new ‌Apple Watch‌ models would likely be the expected Series 6, Prosser did not state which ‌iPad‌ would be arriving. In recent months there has been some conflation about leaks regarding the low-cost ‌iPad‌ and ‌iPad‌ Air 4. It has also been suggested that updated iPad Pro models may arrive this month, so it is difficult to know exactly which ‌iPad‌ models are expected.

The release of multiple Apple products appears to be imminent. At the end of last month, Apple registered eight Apple Watches and seven iPads in Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) filings, and various leaks such as an alleged instruction manual and design schematics have come to light. Similar EEC filings have preceded the launch of new Apple products on numerous occasions, including multiple ‌‌‌iPad‌‌‌, ‌‌iPad Pro‌‌, ‌iPhone‌, Mac, ‌‌Apple Watch‌‌, and AirPods models. The EEC filings effectively confirm that new Apple Watches and at least two different models of ‌iPad‌ will be released very soon, so Prosser's claim that a Tuesday press release will see announcements of these products is not unfounded. Prosser has also correctly predicted some of Apple's launch plans in the past.

I will update this thread when the announcement is made.

Thoughts: If the price is right I might consider the Air. But my current digital watch is still running fine after a decade so I have no use for a new smartwatch.

From what I have seen, it will likely be the new iPad Air with an all screen display. I could also see the mini and iPad come out but I don’t think either of those will have an all screen display. I doubt they will release a new iPad Pro because pro 2020 is only a few months old.

I am far from an expert in this so please correct me if I’m wrong.

I'm interested to see what the next iPad will look like as I've been considering to get a tablet. My GF has a MacBook Air and for browsing the web and other basic use, Apple products are really nice.

Please don't be education models that schools will be stupid enough to purchase. I really don't want to have to fucking deal with Apple products at work.

You need to buy the iBreath accessory bundle to use it though and once integrated into the end user it's impossible to remove. Failure to pay the $99.99/month subscription will result in immediate deactivation and death of the end user.

I wonder how often Jon Prosser has been right. Seems like he is wrong quite often.

Mark Gurman is on point like always though. This is what he posted not too long after Prosser had made his tweet:

If your school does buy apple tablets vs android tablets, they will have a better build quality, be easier to use and hold more value over time. I don't see any issues except a petty fanboy.

I've got the first hand experience to tell you that none of those things are true. They'll break just as easily as anything Lenovo makes (which still puts them ahead of Dell and HP), and good luck repairing them. Apple's general policy in the past has been "NO", when it comes to repairs.

Maybe, MAYBE, they'll hold a higher value because instead of being repaired, anything that gets broken will just be flat out replaced. But I can guarantee that whatever school system picks them up, will go overbudget far faster than if they had gone with Lenovo, and end up selling them off far sooner.

Bear in mind, I work with deployments on the tens of thousands of devices scale. Right now I mainly do delivery/deployment but I was a repair tech for two years, and QA for the repair tech room for a year as well.

We do deployment, imaging, enrollment, and repair for something like 100k machines total (recurring, yearly, standing contracts). That's not counting one-off orders of 35,000 or so.
