How to improve performance on Geforce GT 1030

I would like to improve performance with my Geforce GT 1030. It has 2049 MB Dedicated Video Memory and 8166 MB of Shared Video Memory. I have 16 GB of DDR3 RAM. Most AAA Games, I can run at medium to low settings at 1080p or alternatively at 720p. I am running an I7-3770. I would appreciated any suggestions beyond comments of purchasing a new graphics card.

you could try OC it but you wont get far imo

Yep overclocking is a good idea, but your not going to get good above 60fps 1080p perhaps 720p 60fps if your lucky, on any AAA titles on a GT 1030.

Rather than overclocking, take a look at what you are asking it to do.  Realize that AAx16 is double the work of AAx8 but only marginally better visual quality.  tons of settings are like that.  Put the horsepower where it counts (high quality textures, higher quality shadows, and farther draw distance) and avoid just multiplying the stuff that yields low returns like AA and water reflections.

basicly this.

turn off AA, turn off shadows, drop down to maybe medium draw distance, turn off fancy lighting effects etc. 

 

if you even manage to OC that card at all, it wont be the big change. just cut down the stuff a low-end card struggles with the hardest, and you can still have a pretty decent gaming experience.

Save money to buy a used RX 570 or RX 580 card. 

Sell 8 GB of your DDR3 memory for around 20-30$

Sell the GT1030 for around 30-50$

Add up to 50$ and you're there.

a system with 8 gb ram and rx 570 will still be more than 2x as powerful / high fps that gt1030 model

 

You may be stuck on that "i don't have money" but it doesn't have to cost a lot, if you get rid of old stuff

 

Even new hardware can be  bought on credit cards that let you pay in 6 monthly payments with 0% interest, so it would be 20-30$ a month which you should afford.. and selling old hardware will help.
