Best Thermal Paste For A Laptop

Hi everyone, I haven't been able to keep my ear as close to the PC-ground as I once did, so I'm less familiar with what is out there these days. My laptop (xps 15) runs pretty hot and I've read that repasting the cooler helps a lot. Last time I bought thermal paste was probably six years ago, Arctic Silver 5. That tube is long gone now, should I buy more or go with something else? Maybe something from Thermal Grizzly? Thanks!

I used kryonaut for my gf's sony vaio laptop and it works like a charm.

Any decent paste is fine to use. Just be careful not to use anything electrically conductive unless you are ok with the risk or you use conformal coating.

 

I recently used some Noctua H2 on my mom's laptop that I had left over from my last cooler install. It worked great.

TG Kryonaut, TG Hydronaut, Noctua NT-H1/H2, Arctic MX-4 - these are some of the best options out there. Also neither of these is electrically conductive, which is something you ideally want to look for in a TIM.

I was kinda leaning towards thermal grizzly anyway but I wasn’t sure. What’s the difference between kryonaut and hydronaut?

The Kryonaut's very slightly more thermally conductive, so it's very slightly better. It's generally considered pretty much the best non-metal thermal paste around to my knowledge.

I'll probably end up with Kryonaut, but I just found this on Amazon with a conductivity of 13.8 W/MK opposed to Kryonaut's 12.5 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07K442WXV/ref=emc_b_5_i

Kryonaut is the wei. Temps are down like 10-20C at idle and under load. Thanks!
