I love the pitch black theme on discord mobile as well as on twitter, it would be nice if this site could offer an Pitch black theme as an option as well.

For OLED I think it has to be true black otherwise the pixel will technically still be on. But there are some shades of black that are used instead as true black on an LCD uses more power than pure white apparently.

Just keeping this here as a Of course the article is from 2007 and doesn't fully take OLED and LED backlight with local dimming into account, so the results may change a little with newer monitor models.

I disagree, that is too dark IMO. There are user themes, as linked above, to make it even darker, but I cannot maintain 3 themes and I don't currently intend to make the night theme as dark as that.

The problem with using black on OLED screens is that it will cause smearing as you scroll. Considering a lot of time on the forum is spent scrolling through comments it would be pretty noticeable.

Seems smearing is a device or brightness issue, not just something all OLEDs have. My Oneplus 5 has it, my Pixel 2 had it, doesn't bother me though.
