MInecraft runs like trash (gtx 970m)

I have tried allocating 8gb of my 16gb ram which hasnt helped, I tried optifine which made it worse, I press f3 my fps would range from 40-150fps at 12 chunks but its super stuttery and unplayable. it says its using my gtx 970m and i also have an i7 4710hq. how can i fix this lag issue?

My drivers are always update, i've had this issue for years. Just dealt with it until now. I've reinstalled windows about 15 times since i got it in 2017

Team Fortress 2 Is also running bad for some reason. It worked better on my 75hz monitor than it did with my 60hz laptop display

Try installing optifine....

and don't allocate more than 4gb to vanilla minecraft.

there is no need as java sucks with garbage collection.

Well minecraft is very CPU dependent  so check if it boosts correctly and has a decent but not excessive utilization.

I tried optifine about an hour ago and my fps was worse, I changed it to 4gb and java was also just reinstalled latest

Yeah my cpu speeds are fine 3.5ghz

set the render distance to 10 chunks and try again... 

enable fast render and fast math in the performance tab (asssuming you installed optifine) 

also enable smooth fps

and set the framerate to unlimited

Im getting 200-260fps on 10 chunks, its still a bit stuttery but 100% playable thanks :DDD

you can limit the framerate to your monitor's refresh rate. 

also enable smart animations :D  ( even better)

and this way you reduce the load on your GPU and CPU and still not notice a difference.
