Anyone ever heard of a PCIe Co-Processor?

Hello, I just found something interesting on ebay. A Intel Xeon Phi 5110P 60-Core 1.053GHz Coprocessor. . . OK. What is it and does it have a use in a Gaming Machine? I am not going to buy it but I thought it looked cool and I have no idea what it is really for.

I've heard of them but I don't think they have much use outside the enterprise space... not sure what they're used for though

There's not much reason to put it in a gaming machine. It's pure compute performance, used by researchers and other applications where CPU processing power is needed. You can't use it the same way you'd use a traditional CPU unfortunately.

There are other coprocessors, even more specialized, like the red rocket for video editing

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

 

How many watts do I need? ATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explained, group reg is bad
