Best GPU spot for best temps?

WokeUp

Hey guys I currently have a 980ti in my rig which I will be replacing with a 5700 xt thicc 3 so it will be noticeably bigger in size, anyways I looked at my motherboard manual and both top pcie slots are x16 so I can put the card in any of those two.

My case is the NZXT 340 Mid tower

So with that being said which slot do you think I should put the card in, I have always had the 980ti in the top slot and I didn't notice any thing temp wise, tbh I never really look at temps unless I hear the fans screaming.

I will put a picture too, please let me know which slot you would suggest. thanks!

I think that the bottom slot will be slightly cooler. However, it is likely to be a negligible difference so I would put it wherever you think looks better.

I am far from an expert in this so please correct me if I’m wrong.

Always the top slot. Depending on the board, the others may not run at x16.

i would think the top slot, as there would be more room for airflow, but you could test both and see for sure which runs cooler.

For that board 'always the top spot' should not apply, slot 1,3,5 and 6 are directly linked to the CPU. That being said your manual states:

'For a single PCIe x16 expansion card installation with optimum performance, using the PCI_E1 slot is recommended'

This is what the manual says which tbh is a bit confusing and the other pictures are what the bios hardware explorer shows when I hover over with my mouse
