My RX 470 is underperforming. What can I do?

Goompro

Hi everyone. I got my PC second-hand for €300 a couple months ago. My PC is not performing as expected (e.g. frame drops on Astroneer and one HDD once failed to start), thus I want to upgrade something. Games like Destiny 2 also run terribly, it can't even push 60 frames at 720p low settings. Minecraft also runs at 40-50 FPS, but that could be a driver/Java issue. However, I'm quite unsure as to what I should upgrade.

I have some benchmarks from UserBenchmark, though. I think I need to upgrade at least my HDD and slap in an SSD as well, since they are severely outdated. Maybe my GPU as well, since that would be the worst performing component according to the benchmark.

For extra diagnosing, I also ran FireStrike and Unigine tests, sorry for the terrible image quality on those two.

Specs:

CPU: Intel i5-3470 @ 3.60ghz

GPU: Radeon RX 470 (4GB)

MOBO: Asus H61M-K

RAM: 16 GB DDR3

HDD: 2,5 TB (10-year-old HDD)

PSU: Cooler Master 600W 80plus

I'm aware my CPU is 8 years old, but it's still got 4 cores and a decent clock speed. It's also in good shape as you can see on the benchmark, so I'm not sure if my CPU is at fault here, but I could be wrong.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

What you could do is forget about Usermememark, and throw an SSD into that system and install Windows on it. It's the single best upgrade you can give that system until you get to changing the CPU/motherboard/memory, which are more costly.

Desktop: Intel Core i9-9900K | ASUS Strix Z390-F | G.Skill Trident Z Neo 2x16GB 3200MHz CL14 | EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER XC Ultra | Corsair RM650x | Fractal Design Define R6

Laptop: 2018 Apple MacBook Pro 13"  --  i5-8259U | 8GB LPDDR3 | 512GB NVMe

Peripherals: Leopold FC660C w/ Topre Silent 45g | Logitech MX Master 3 & Razer Basilisk X HyperSpeed | HIFIMAN HE400se & iFi ZEN DAC | Audio-Technica AT2020USB+

its not underperforming

its comparing it to RTX 2060Super which is set as baseline for 100% and that card is about twice the performance of yours which makes sense in the % results....

That benchmark is really stupid though...

Destiny 2 - almost certain the game is held back by your cpu. Check your CPU and GPU usage during gameplay

the fps issues could simply be due to drive speed, if the drive is too slow to load in everything the game needs on time it will stutter.

I tried MSI Afterburner, but Bungie (the devs) don't allow it on Destiny 2.
