ram speed and Ryzen cpus

I recently bought a Ryzen 5 3600 and after hearing so much about how Ryzen benefits from fast ram I bought a 3600 mhz kit without realizing that the r5 3600 supports a maximum of 3200 mhz.

Is there any benefit to the 3600 mhz kit I bought or the cpu will lock the speed to 3200 mhz somehow?

I have set the xmp profile to 3600 mhz and its running really smoothly so I'm just curious if there's any change.

That's not true. Im running 3600 mhz on my Ryzen 5 3600X. It should not lock it to 3200.

As for performance difference, you will mostly see it in desktop tasks like web browsing or other apps. Gaming won't be really affected.

 3600mhz is probably the best speed to go with for Ryzen you can overclock ur ram to something pretty high if i recall.

I'm pretty sure there was someone around here a few days ago running like over 4000Mhz ram with a 3600 + B450.

AMD first stated that 3733mhz is the sweetspot for ryzen since it will still run it with most users

its not locked but I thought that the cpu somehow dials back the speeds when using the ram.

it does show on task manger that it is 3600 mhz

also AMD says on their website 3200 mhz but it says "system memory" not max memory supported , its unclear what that means exactly

the first screen shot does specify that u can overclock the memory but does it mean the cpu will benefit from it?

3200mhz in that article means that the ram will run stabile with 99.9% users.

wow i overclocked my 3200 with a 2700 to around 3600 i think.
