Where to go after GTX 1070

Looking to upgrade my GPU Gtx 1070 

 

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600

MOTHERBOARD: MSI  X370 Gaming Plus (MS-7A33)

RAM : 16GB 

GPU: GTX 1070 MSI 

I am looking to update my GPU in next couple of months.

Wait, the 1070 is s solid card, we have RTX 3000 in the pipeline, that will be your best bet

What are you missing out on the GTX 1070? What resolution are you gaming at?

I would go at least for an RX 5700XT or 2070 Super, which are about 30-40% better in gaming.

 

I am not sure if new videocards will be coming out, in recent months. But of course take anything said here and re-evaluate it when you are actually going to buy a videocard.

Only really need to upgrade if you get a 4k display, can probably pick that up first for a secondary monitor before upgrading your GPU.

 

that way you have the best of both worlds for monitors

 

wouldn't go below 32" possibly. Could even just grab a TCL 4K TV if it's mostly for single player games.

Those are your upgrade options, but the 1070 can do 1440p UW in a pinch.  I'd wait for the new cards, and upgrade your CPU too.  It ain't the fastest thing out there.

If you want to upgrade (later on ) 

Upgrade the cpu and GPU 

Dont upgrade the GPU now  as it is still a decent card and a low end 1440p card (even in 21:9)

no 4k. youll need at least a 2080 for smooth rates then.

Np, wasn't looking to put you on the defensive.  It's a solid CPU, but even tho people say that higher resolutions are GPU focused, the CPU is still a foundation.  

 

I'd pass on 4K and go 1440p UW.  A good 1080p high quality is smoother to drive than a 4k low quality and looks just as good basically.

If for Games...why 4k tho? Doesnt make sense 4k for gaming There is no real benefit on a Desktop monitor

Because it makes games look great? my RX 5700 runs games at 4k just fine on medium-high settings

 

and he already has a 144hz display

 

the 4K display can also be used for movies and what not.

Movies and Games also look great on a 1440p ips high refresh rate Desktop monitor, and for Games its even better...4k has no place on a gaming setup. Its awesome for workstation tho.

Are you running at 1080p res tho?  What games can an RX5700 run at 4k?

Any of them? You just can't run games at Ultra and all of that, just played through doom eternal in 4k on it, and resident evil 2 remake
