Major problems with my RTX 2060 **FIXED**

boiclueless__

Hey guys, i'm in need of some help. I built my first pc in June of 2019 and it was running perfectly up until a few weeks ago. Whenever i would play a game on my pc, I used to be able to run them on max setting and have very little drop in fps and my pc would run perfectly, up until a few weeks ago that is. No whenever i start up a game, my gpu spikes to 100% and my whole pc will restart. An example would be when ever i join a match of CSGO, my gpu commits suicide and spikes, then my whole pc will restart. please if you have the time, i really need some advice.

Have you checked the Temps? It's not the load that kills it it's usually the temperature that spikes.

BTW, 100% usage on games is totally fine and actually exactly what it should do.

Sounds like a power delivery problem (the restarts) - the 100% usage is normal

hm,how can i check?

check the temps before crushing (you can do that by using afterburner and display the temp stats as an overlay on your game notice what the numbers are before crushing)

while idleing in the CSGO menu, it stays around 34C, while in a match it spiked to about 40C

also did it crash? or you are just reporting temps? try to notice the temps before crashing.

Have you done any overclocking to your system?

Also download the trial version of aida64 and run a CPU stresstest (notice the temps as well)

If nothing happens for like 15 minutes or so

download furmark and run a stress test

ok do the stress test then lets see if your system crashes by one so that we may be able to isolate the issue.

On furmark the temperature skyrocketed from about 32°c to about 57°c within a minute or less

Ok so since aida64 didnt crash or throttle we know now that its probably your GPU  but 80 degrees is not that high and you said you didnt do any OC...

so inspect the card did it accumulate much dust? besides raising temps it can contribute to shortages.

if it has too much dust clean it use a blower can or your vacuum cleaner

reseat the card make sure its sitting there snugly and straight (no hanging sideways ) you should hear a click sound but not neccessary (depends on the slot of your mobo) also make sure that you connect your card on the top(nearest to the CPU) PCIe x16 slot.

check the cabling of the PSU and if you have extra PCI-e power connectors use them instead of the ones currently connected.

Then download the latest nvidia driver from their website (do not install it yet)

then do a DDU in when booting in safemode https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

reboot but before booting make sure you disconnect your computer from the internet

then install the drivers and click on advanced to perform a clean installation

after that you can reconnect to the internet.

is it still crashing? (also mention if your PSU has extra GPU/PCI-e cables available and if you tried those)
