280hz 1080p ips or 144hz 1440p va

HealthyMindFrsh

idk which one is better. I am planning on using the monitor for casual use so I really don't know which on to get because I tried 240hz in a store and it's very smooth.

Paying $400 for a 1080p monitor seems a bit much for me. I'd get the 1440p 144hz monitor personally.

What CPU and GPU, along with what game are you running?

I've got the Asus TUF VG279QM, not bad, but I as a casual player don't really see much difference with my previous display - https://eu.aoc.com/en/gaming-monitors/ag272fcx6
The image is much sharper when you follow something moving though. Really much better in that sense, but when looking just around it's not much different.

It's a good monitor, but don't really know if it's better than 1440p 144Hz monitor, it's a matter of preference, so up to you.

Reviews give much more detailed info.

I'm personally not sure if the RTX 2070 super is capable of pushing 280fps on most FPS games (Except CS:GO), even on lowest "Pro competitive" graphics settings. Some games like over watch also have a FPS cap at about 200, so those wouldnt benefit at all from much over 165fps.

27'' at 1080p doesn't look good...pixels are big. 144hz is plenty fast and smooth, 1440p at 27'' looks A LOT nicer...my vote goes to the 1440p monitor...hands down.

Anybody know any good 1440p 144hz ips monitors?

https://pcpartpicker.com/products/monitor/#r=256001440&D=144000,280000&P=6,2,7,3,5,4&sort=price&F=683260000,1651000000&A=3,2,1

All the monitors in this list are :

1440p

144hz or faster

27'' or bigger

Not TN

Have variable refresh

So any one of these monitors will give an outstanding gaming experience.

1440p240Hz with 2nd Gen TN is imo the best you can get right now but pricey.
