Case fan has 3 pins but new fan connector has 4 socket

Hi all. I'm trying to replace the rear fan on my NZXT Noctis 450. The actual fan connectors on the  case eachhave 3 pins. But the connector on the new fan has 4 holes - can I still use it?

Yes, you can still use it.

You can only plug in the cable one way too, because of plastic notches/catches on the board/fan headers.

Sometimes you do have to set fan control to 'DC' mode, instead of 'PWM' mode.

Long story short, the 4th pin is PWM, which allows for more granular control of the fan speed.
