Just a few weeks ago I built a system with a B450 Mortar Max and a 3600X and it's been running smooth without any problems ever since.

Mortar Max, or Pro vdh Max or the b450m/AC from ASrock.

1. update BIOS 

2.random reboot and 

3. trouble reaching ddr4 3600

Depends entirely on the CPU used. 

 

3rd gen has no issue running at those speeds. 

 

And it inherits the memmory tracing from the tomahawk which is good enough to run at 3600mhz. (Not that those speeds are that hard)

 

And could be just XMP being XMP and not allways working.

Random reboots is likely due to XMP profile not working, I had that with my Asus mobo and I loosened the Trfc timing a bit and haven't rebooted since.

 

I heard the MSI b450 Tomahawk is pretty good, not that I tried it myself.
