3700X VS 9700K for 240Hz gaming?

Simple question, for 240Hz gaming at 1080p, which is the better CPU?

I'd assume it's the 9700K since it doesn't have the infinity-fabric latency penalties that AMD has, but I haven't been able to find benchmarks of the 3700X and the 9700K has very high CPU usage at those framerates that worries me for future upgradeability.

I would go 3700x. 9700k wins today, but complete lack of hyperthreading could be a problem for the 9700k as upcoming consoles will have 8 cores and 16 threads vs just 8 cores of the 9700k. I bought a 9900k and I regret it immensely considering the cost of the CPU plus mobo is 300 more what I would have spent on a 3700x. Plus you can use the same mobo if u want to upgrade to ryyzen 4000.

Simple answer: 9700K

There is of course a long answer. No hyperthreading with the 9700K, basically EOL product, you will most likely have to switch to a new socket if you want to upgrade in 1-2 years etc.

10700k is selling soon, you might wanna wait and if you insist on intel.

If youre worried about future upgradability, don't waste money for non hyperthreading cpu.

Future games will surely have more support for multi processing.

I was in teh same situation, I got the Ryzen 7 3800x... You should do the same.

I wouldn't buy a top tier CPU this close to the release of a new one. I'd wait for the 109700k at the very least, plus you'll be able to see how the new Ryzen chips compare.

Eh, by that logic the Ryzen is an EOL product as well.

Most people aren't video editing to the point the Ryzen chip makes more sense. At the top tier, you pay more for smaller percentages of performance.

The 9700k is def superior now. But what happens a year from now after the consoles are released and a couple games really make use of these extra threads. Youre then stuck with a cpu that isnt as smooth in games u wanna play.

The 9700k already has issues in a couple titles like ac unity. I dunno if that will happen but it would be frustrating as hell if it does.
