Is a Q6600 and a GT610 still acceptable for gaming?

terrytek

Buy the EVGA GTX 750 Ti FTW with the ACX cooler

Here's why:

The ACX cooler will make the card completely silent and freezing cool. Colder temps result in higher clocks due to GPU Boost 2.0. This allows the GX 750 Ti to reach clocks in excess of 1450MHz.

The Performance of the GTX 750 Ti is better than the GTX 550 Ti, R7 260X, HD 7850, GTX 650 Ti, and even the GTX 650 Ti Boost.

Bioshk-FR.png

It is comparable to high end cards in professional applications

02-AutoCAD-3D.png

It is also a very profitable miner if you ever decide to mine

In addition to all of this performance, it fits within a 60W power envelope

And the main reason why this card is the perfect one for you:

It's sexy

Here's where you can pick one up: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487028

I only plan to game and do some CAD here and there, but mostly gaming. Still, The 660Ti wins here.

Sorry, I mean 660. It still beats the 750Ti in gaming. But the 750Ti is a champ in CAD applications, i gotta admit.

Does the 660Ti still exist?

The GTX 660 Ti still exists, and you should be able to purchase one on ebay. I would recommend the GTX 750 Ti though

You can max out Crysis 3 @ 1080p with that 610!

A C2Q is still acceptable for gaming, but will have some issues with newer games like BF4 for sure.

unless he gets a mantle supported gpu! :D

I know this thread is uber long and i didn't read it all, but concerning the Q6600: it's still a great CPU. My brother's Q6600 would OC to 3,0 GHz with a Thermaltake Contac 21. (65 °C MAX).

who cares...

i mean im still rocking a c2d in my secondary system and the new athlon in my new system so that c2q is close to my new rig and flattens my old one

Yeah, I got up to 3.2GHz on air.

Another note: Even I am surprised this thread got over 250 replies! Seriously shocked.

I still have a Q6600 clocked at 3.0ghz paired with a ASUS 460 GTS (replacing my old 8800gts when it died), i can run BF4 on my comp but its very unstable and crashes often, COD:ghosts cant run cos minimum

specs requires 6g ram i only have 4g,  C2D & C2Q are the industry standard for minimum spec requirements for games now.

why not athlon is a brand new quad core performs just a tincy bit over a core i3??? (i say brand new the name is old but the chip is new its on the fm2)

For games I would either do a low end I5 or an FX-6300. Especially with BF4. I have an i5-2400 and I'm already CPU bound. My gpu sits around at 70% and my CPU maxes out.

I'm almost upgrading from my Q9300 to FX6300 but after some benchs i'm thinking to try BF4 + mantle with my R9 270....

Yeah, but what's so good about Mantle?

I would say it depend's on how much bottleneck you have:

I think our quad's are in the phenom 955 level

thats why i went cheapo depo on the processor because i dont need lots of processing power i play older games and with mantle being a thing now i think its unessicary to get a bad a$$ processor but if i had the budget id have either a fx9590 or a core i7 extreme edition lol :D

So, a CPU like this is the minimum to max out modern games like CoD and BF4 (of course, with a better GPU).

Yo, @Ryan Leech and @tmcclelland455, you guys still on this post? I need advice. Maybe, I should ditch NVidia and go AMD. Something like R7 265 or 270X, maybe?

At this point it doesn't really matter as long as you replace your GT 610. My vote goes to the GTX 750 Ti, but go with whatever makes you happy.

Yeah, but I can't legally work for a business yet, so money is kinda tight now, and selling stuff is kinda difficult
