Is a Q6600 and a GT610 still acceptable for gaming?

terrytek

Q6600 maybe, GT610 never was IMO.

Yeah, it was my mistake to get one.

if you care about mantle get the 270(non x, same thing when OC and cheaper) EDIT: the 270 might even be out of your budget so maybe a 7850/7870 or r9 265, (basically the best deal)?

otherwise just get the 750ti (unless you get a deal on 660ti)

My friend was using a Q6600 up until I recently built him a new gaming rig. Only reason for the upgrade was because of the age of the machine.

Well, so far, the only stores I access are TigerDirect, Newegg, and Superbiiz. Newegg doesn't sell the 660Ti, Tigerdirect has none, either (only 650Ti and 660 non Ti) and Superbiiz has the 660Ti, it's just that they all are out. Seems strange that all could be out at once. That was weeks ago. Even today, the site still says out of stock.

I wouldn't worry about the 660 Ti, it's not that great of a card. Yes it is better than the 750 Ti in terms of raw performance but it lacks the features of the 750 Ti.

oh god, why?

i had a q8400 @3.15 ghz and it worked fine with my 6970 (50fps on 1600*900) and then i got an fx 8320@4.2ghz and now i get 75fps on 1920*1080 in crysis 3 with the same settings! ...so would say that the q6600 is still not completely dead...but that 610 has to go away!

Sorry, please expand on this. Both are good cards, so what features does the GTX750 Ti has over the GTX660 Ti, I'm kind of curious....well, other than the GTX750 Ti being Maxwell and draw less power.

A step above from 610...yes!! But still not for gaming...its fine if u are building a HTPC...but definitely not for gaming....

Yeah, but this system is working fine for me, except it's 32 bit, and it's suffering with 4GB of ram.
