looking for compatible PSU cables for G750H

plasma757

i am looking for power connectors that are compatible with my gigabyte G750H and am struggling to find any, all the cables that i can find are only compatible with other brands. i am specifically looking for a PCIe 8 pin to 2x 6+2pin connector. any suggestions on what i should use (color and type of cable does not matter as long as it is compatible with the gigabyte PSU and is 8 pin to 2x 6+2 pin).

Those PSU connectors are universal they are all the same.

You want it for a GPU?

are they the same? i have heard that the connectors tended to vary between some manufacturers, and on sites such as cable mod many of the cable kits are labeled with a manufacturer. the cable would be for a gpu

NO NO NO NO NO!! THIS IS WRONG!

The connectors on the power supply side are NOT universal. They will be different depending on the brand and models! For example the cables for a Corsair AX1200 are NOT compatible with the cables for a Corsair AX1200i even though they're both Corsair PSUs. If you use the wrong cables you can damage your system or power supply!

This is correct. You need to find cables that are compatible with your specific power supply.
Off the top of my head I don't know what the pinout for the Gigabyte G750H is but I'll see if I can find it for you.

if only it was that easy, and honestly it should be. there really isn't any reason why the couldn't be standardized other than they just don't want to put in the tiny amount of effort to do so

I had a quick look but I can't find any pinouts for the G750H.
Do you have a multimeter?

Use the multimeter to measure the voltage on each of the pins on the power supply. You'll be able to find the pinout that the PSU uses and compare it to other power supplies to see if there are any other power supplies out there that use cables with the same pinout which would be compatible.

This should also help: https://www.modders-inc.com/power-supply-pinout-repository

Alternatively if it's just for looks you could use sleeved extension cables that plug in to the end of your existing PSU cables. These will also be cheaper than custom cables.

Well thanks for the advice. Unfourtunately it is not just for looks as that would make this process a hell of a lot easier.

I did.

they just replied today and said that all psu power cables are standard and I can buy any one off of Amazon and use it.

Which is clearly not true and could result in some damaged equipment.

Hello guys. I had the same issue and I happened to have a multimeter with me here at home. I have the famous gigabyte p750 and decided to test the pins on the 8 pin PCIE port of the PSU. I tried attaching a picture but the system wouldnt let me so here is a typed diagram when looking at the PSU ports directly and with the notch on top....

-     -     -      -

-   12v 12v 12v

So basically all 4 pins on top row are negative, first pin to the left of the bottom row is negative and the last 3 pins to the right on the bottom row are 12v +.

According to this website: https://www.modders-inc.com/power-supply-pinout-repository/4/   ;  the supernova PSU cables should be the same layout.

Hope this helps.... do everything at your own risk.
